Ashley is a given name which was originally an Old English surname . It is derived from the Old English (Anglo-Saxon) words æsc ( ash ) and lēah and translates to "Dweller near the ash tree meadow". [1]

Ashley was originally a boys' name in England, France and Germany. It was first recorded as a male given name in the 16th century and remained exclusively male until around 350 years later. [2] Its popularity in England came in part from the prominent 17th-century politician Lord Ashley . Appearances of the boys' name in popular culture include Ashley Wilkes in 1939's Gone with the Wind and Ash Williams (Ashley Williams) in the 1981 film The Evil Dead .

Ashley in the United Kingdom remains predominantly male, ranking at #40 in 1996 for boys and staying within the top 100–300 male names given each year. Although Ashley was briefly used for British females, it dropped out of the top UK female name charts in 2011. [3]

In the 1960s, Americans started using the male spelling of Ashley for females as well as males. [4] In the 1980s the name had a rise in popularity attributed to the female soap opera character Ashley Abbott who emerged on the still-running TV series The Young and the Restless in 1982. [5]

I will never purchase anything from Ashley Home Store, ever again. I had just moved into a new apartment, and bought a very expensive bedroom set. When the delivery people showed up, they brought the wrong headboard. Then, when bringing in the dresser, they put a deep hole in our new walls and continued bringing furniture in without acknowledging the damage. They told us they had to leave our FOOTBOARD and dresser here and took everything else back. Beth, the sales lady at the Southhaven store, would not return any calls or emails. Finally, she emailed days later and said she corrected the order and placed it for the next week. We received the wrong headboard and rails.... AGAIN. Once again, no help from anyone, and they refused our request to return the furniture that we were TOLD had to stay here. Now we are stuck with no bed, only a very expensive and unwanted footboard and dresser... Still trying to get in touch with someone. Very very displeased with the customer service and the entire situation.

Back in March I ordered a mattress, adjustable base, and a bed frame. I was told the bed frame was on back order until July or August but could get the mattress and adjustable base the following Tuesday. ALMOST A MONTH LATER they get delivered but the guys cut the power cord to the base. Contact Ashley and they said have to get ahold of Tempurpedic. Went to the store and was promised a new base. Week later got call from warehouse saying that isn't going to happen I need to go through Tempurpedic. Contacted Tempurpedic and said they can't do anything that Ashley had to replace it. Contacted Ashley again and told them Tempurpedic won't replace it. The agent argued with me demanding I have to go through Tempurpedic. So I went back to the store and again promised me a new base. Two weeks after not hearing anything finally got a power cord to go with the base. Fast forward to now, get a notification that bed frame is ready for delivery. Schedule delivery and when they arrive, they are only there to pick up the useless loaner frame and no bed frame!! Contacted Ashley and they said waiting on the rails. They forgot to communicate that to me!! Now I'm ready to cancel the order for the bed frame. Do not buy your furniture at Ashley!! Stay away!!!

I will NEVER buy furniture from Ashley again. Kevin & Kena sold me a protection plan that WE NEVER DISCUSSED NOR DID I AGREE TOO. Not only was it a protection plan but it was for OUTDOOR FURNITURE-reference the pictures I took- I NEVER PURCHASED OUTDOOR FURNITURE. Their furniture came damaged and dirty...nothing like pictures I took in the store of their display furniture. A mattress was brought opened and dirty to my home. The delivery guys told me to leave it because Ashley would pick it up with next delivery.. now Kevin, the manager, refers me back to customer service and refuses to take the mattress back because I called him out concerning his integrity. The people I've encountered here seem to have integrity of Satan himself...NONEXISTENT. I will post how they delivered the furniture damaged. They lie and don't care once they make the sale. Beds damaged, dirty, no bracket (still leaning against wall in my bedroom), mold looking stuff, dirty with dog looking hair. Look at how filthy the paper towel was after trying to clean the Realyn headboard-no footboard because nothing ships together or its either broken or dirty. Langford beds had no bracket and other one damaged. The 2nd console (REPLACEMENT) they delivered was DAMAGED too. I've literally heard from customer service 30-40X Probably. Look at the pic of the mattress and how it was delivered opened and dirty. Delivery guys said it's typical of Ashley and someone likely dragged it through the warehouse.

I will never buy anything else from this store! They have horrible customer service and they are like real shady car salesman. They say it's on sale then after they done tan your credit say well if you get it on credit you have to do regular price when the whole time your topic and discussion was around credit so why not say that in the beginning they dont want to add match website like they say and they tricked me into getting a store card instead of synchoney bank so I could only shop in store and not online which they don't tell you. I hated my whole experience with them and will never shop with this location I may never shop with any Ashley the Way I really feel!

I bought a couch in April 2021. I have had a problem with the armless recliner since we received it. I called about the issues in May/June 2021. No one came out to assess this issue they just said they ordered a part and when it arrives to call them and they'd send someone out. No part ever arrived and never was I kept updated. They closed the ticket and never informed me. I went in person to speak to a person in the store on Jan. 21, 2022. I spoke with a manager and explained the issues. He then sent an email to the service department specifically asking to have a technician come out and assess the furniture to see if it needed a part or if it needed replacing. I got a text from the service department asking for pictures of any damage or of the problem. I asked them if they would just send someone. They wrote back stating they needed pictures before the could start the service request. I informed them that there was no damage but it needed to be looked at before anyone could make a decision on a part. I sent them these attached pictures. I could not see what the specific thing was wrong in them how could they. The service department sent me a text saying they were ordering a part and I could call their 877 number for updates. I explained they did this 8 months ago and stated to them that a manager from the store requested an in person assessment. All they stated was they apologize. I'm so mad. I am at the point of canceling my store card and letting family and friends know to not ever use this company. Like anything else if you take care of your customers, your customers will take care of you.

I will NEVER purchase a single thing from Ashley HomeStore again. If I could give them 0 stars I would. My husband and I purchased a bed in store on 10/29. We specifically chose the one we did because it would be delivered quickly instead of the several month wait for most furniture. Our bed was delivered defective on 11/03. The bed wasn't even in our home for 10 minutes & we notified customer care. The delivery men were still here while we called. Customer care told us we would have to wait 7-14 days before the hardware was delivered & call back once it got there to schedule someone to assemble it. We immediately called the store & notified them. They said there was nothing that could be done since the item had been delivered into our home, but would make a note on our account for someone to contact us. We heard back from no one. After a week went by we followed up ourselves on 11/11 & spoke with customer care who was showing no notes on our accounts of previous calls or any service orders. She said that she was going to place a new order & the missing pieces would be delivered within 7 days. 7 days later, no hardware, no follow up, nothing. We call back & after being on hold for 10 minutes finally reach someone who says they do so an order on 11/11 and they'll check on the status. She puts us on hold for 10+ minutes only to terminate the call. We call back, explain the issue again & explain that the previous person hung up on us. This guy says he'll check on the status of the replacement parts & puts us on hold again. 10+ minutes later & the call is terminated AGAIN. We call back a third time & after being on hold we finally reach someone who tells us that not only will the hardware not be here in 7 days, but it won't be here until JANUARY. At this point, this disassembled, defective product has been sitting in pieces on our bedroom floor for 2 weeks & now we are going to have to wait another 2.5 months minimum before the pieces arrive. We requested that they schedule the bed to be removed from our home & our account refunded for the amount. She tells me that we have to call the store we made the purchase in. We call the store & ask to speak to the store manager, but are told he's in an interview. We explain our issue to the woman on the phone who to no surprise tells us that the store can do nothing & that we have to reach back out to customer care. We let them know we've already spoken to customer care who said we had to go through them for the refund. We're then directed to the warehouse because they have to approve refunds? Makes no sense at all to me, but maybe we'll finally get someone to resolve our issue instead of bouncing us around. We call the warehouse with the number to store provides & request to speak with a supervisor. The man who answers refuses to transfer us & instead wants to relay messages back & forth. He tells us the only solution is to be credited the amount of the bed & purchase a new one. So now we are looking at several more months without a bed. We ask again to speak to a supervisor & he again refuses to transfer us so we requested the number to corporate. We call the number to corporate to immediately be transferred to a different person. We explained our issue again & requested that the defective bed be removed & we be refunded. He calls the store & after more time on hold tells us that the only solution is store credit & then transfers me to another lady who can "explain it better." This lady tells me Ashley doesn't have a return policy. A blatant lie as it's clear as day on the website. She then tells me that not only is the only solution to be given store credit for the purchase of the original bed, but the bed has been discontinued so we have to go back into the store & start this bs process all over again. We told her we did not want the credit, we wanted the bed removed & a refund. She again tells me they don't do returns and that's the only solution. Stay far far away from Ashley HomeStore. Shop at literally any other furniture store.

Haven't gotten my online order in 4 months. They change the date every time it's suppose to get here and push it back another month. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me

So here we are, delivery day. Should have known this wasn't going to go well. one server delivered, one counter table delivered, 4 bar stools for table, vanished into mid air. No one said anything about them being back ordered. shows on the delivery invoice. Not on the truck. one excuse was maybe there wasn't enough room on the truck (that was from the foreign call center operator) Idiot!. Another lady said "they must have shown up after the truck was loaded and left for deliveries". SERIOUSLY! they scheduled the delivery 3 days in advance. Just absolutely pathetic way of doing business. No one in this company has a clue what is going on (except for Mickey and he is to busy with Goofy!). I am at a loss
The saga continues. By the way, like the garden variety response?? Here is a new one for me anyw
