Artificial intelligence chooses nuclear war.
King's College London conducted a simulation of geopolitical conflicts, where popular neural networks participated instead of states. They could choose any means to achieve their goals.
Leading artificial intelligence systems from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google used nuclear weapons in 95% of cases in simulated geopolitical crises.
The AI models played 21 games, making a total of 329 moves, and wrote about 780,000 words describing the rationale for their decisions. They called a nuclear strike "the only right decision."
