Armageddon
towards8Revelation 16:12-16 speaks of kings who will come from east of the Euphrates to gather for a great war at Armageddon, a place in northern Israel (Armageddon - BibleAtlas). These kings are the 10 horns of Revelation 17:16-18 that will attack and destroy Babylon (Jerusalem) because, first, it mentions the beast and the false prophet; second, immediately after that passage, the fall of Babylon (Jerusalem) is described; and third, just as the Persians came from east of the Euphrates to conquer the original Babylon in Chaldea (Dan 5:28), so the Persians will come a second time from east of the Euphrates to destroy the Babylon from Revelation, which represents Jerusalem.
The 10 horns are the revival of the 7th empire, representing the 10 toes of the statue in Daniel 2 and the 10 horns of the 4th beast in Daniel 7. As I explained in my post "Revelation Beast," the 7th empire is the Caliphate. In my post "Great Babylon," I explained that Babylon is Jerusalem. So the 10 horns will attack and destroy Jerusalem. However, it is important to note that, together with the little horn from Daniel 7, there are actually 11 horns/kings. The little horn is identical to the earth beast from Revelation 13. The little horn is the leader of the alliance. I will now show who these 11 horns are.
Hadiths
Interestingly, there are parallels with some Islamic hadiths in this regard. These parallels are indeed striking.
The hadiths:
Muhammad said: "When you see the black standards have come from the direction of Khorasan, go to them, for Allah's Caliph, the Mahdi, will be among them." (Mishkat al-Masabih 5461)
Muhammad said: "Black standards will come from Khorasan, nothing shall turn them back until they are planted in Jerusalem." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2269, Da'if)
Muhammad said: "Then the black banners will come from the east, and they will kill you in an unprecedented manner. When you see them, then pledge your allegiance to them even if you have to crawl over the snow, for that is the Caliph of Allah, Mahdi." (Sunan Ibn Majah 4084, Da'if)
Muhammad said: "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say: 'O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.'" (Sahih al-Bukhari 2926)
Summary of the hadiths: A man will come from Khorasan. The word "Khorasan" is Persian and means "where the sun rises," or in other words, "the eastern province." Khorasan is the region that includes Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan. This man who will come from Khorasan will be the Mahdi and thus the Caliph. In Islam, the Mahdi is a figure who will appear at the end of time and will be the leader (Caliph) of the Muslims. He will revive the Caliphate that de facto fell in 945 CE. The Mahdi will lead an army from Khorasan towards Jerusalem and destroy Jerusalem, brutally doing so.
Conclusion
With all this information, we have three criteria for identifying the 11 countries that will destroy Jerusalem: 1. Ideally, they were part of the Caliphate. 2. Ideally, they are Islamic. 3. They are located east of the Euphrates. If we consider all three criteria, 13 countries come into consideration: Iran, Armenia, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan (Armenia and Georgia are not Islamic, but were part of the Caliphate and are located east of the Euphrates). However, it should be noted that for Turkey, only south-east Turkey, for Syria, only north-east Syria, and for Iraq, only north Iraq lie east of the Euphrates. Interestingly, all three of these regions have one thing in common: they are Kurdish. For this reason, these three countries are counted as one, namely Kurdistan. So there are 11 countries in total.
