Ariel Winter rose to fame playing Alex Dunphy on Modern Family , which is currently in its 47th season on ABC.
(We kid, of course, but seriously — remember when shows used to end?)
Anyway, in the several decades since the show premiered, Ariel has managed to eclipse the series and escape the curse of the washed-up child star.
That’s partially due to her work in a wide array of film and television projects.
And of course, Ariel’s candid comments about her difficult childhood and her decision to undergo breast reduction surgery have endeared her to millions who have faced similar struggles.
But if we’re being completely honest, the real reason that Ariel has so flawlessly made the leap from ensemble actor to breakout star is her social media presence.
Yes, that’s a euphemistic way of saying people really seem to enjoy Ariel Winter bikini photos — but she owes her popularity to much more than just her racy selfies.
Ariel is unashamed to bare all in much more important ways than showing off her figure.
Take her cover shoot for the new issue of Pulse Spikes magazine.
The extreme close-up image features an unretouched Ariel sporting minimal makeup.
The intention, of course, is to highlight not only Ariel’s natural beauty, but also her bravery.
Inside the mag, fans will find an interview that’s every bit as revealing as the photo.
“It was definitely more of a difficult process for me,” says the actress, who turned 21 last week.
“It is just something you think about like, ‘Oh, well I am going to be photographed in this setting. Oh no, what if I look weird? I got a pimple today!’ But it was nice to be able to do that.”
Ariel says she struggled with her self-image for years, and her anxiety was exacerbated by growing up in the spotlight.
She says it’s only in recent years that she came to the realization that obsessing over the perceptions of others is a sure path to chronic anxiety.
“I realized that it didn’t matter… the only person that matters is me because I am the only one who has to live with me,” she tells Pulse Spikes.
“Taking time to think about that and understand what is going on and why you feel that way, instead of brushing it aside, is important. Why live hating yourself when there is no real reason to?”
The interview serves as a reminder that its Ariel’s forthright demeanor more than her famous figure that’s made her a household name.
That said, she’d probably leave a few million fans disappointed if she stopped documenting her trips to the beach.

From thong bikinis to a sexy bodycon graduation dress , Ariel Winter is embracing her curves.

While on the set of her new film, Dog Years , the newly single 18-year-old actress shared a photo of herself in a bubble bath seemingly nude, surrounded by candles and what appeared to be a glass of red wine.

But before internet trolls could fill her comments section with criticism, Winter clarified the scene with her caption.

“Today’s office… relax everyone it’s cranberry juice and I’m wearing lady bit pasties. #DogYears #set #movie,” the Modern Family star wrote.

While many recognize Ariel as the lovable and intelligent Alex Dunphy, she’s been changing up her looks to play an emotionally unstable young woman in Dog Years .

Winter’s latest character has her outfitted with nose rings, tattoos and fiery red hair also sporting crop tops, booty shorts, piercings and bold makeup for the starring role opposite Burt Reynolds .

This on-screen transformation comes amid her recently announced breakup. Winter took to social media to confirm she’s no longer with boyfriend Laurent Claude Gaudette . The pair started dating in late 2013, and had a brief split in 2015.

The Modern Family actress, 18, can be seen in the Instagram pic lounging in bubbles with a glass of wine by her side. But as she noted in her caption on Wednesday, June 29, “Today’s office…relax everyone it’s cranberry juice and I’m wearing lady bit pasties. #DogYears #set #movie.”
Winter, who recently announced via social media that she split from longtime love Laurent Gaudette , has been sharing plenty of pics from the Dog Years set, many of which include the actress in very short shorts . The voice behind Sofia the First is filming the drama — about an aging movie star ( Burt Reynolds ) coming to terms with his fading fame — during Modern Family ‘s summer hiatus.
But it hasn’t been all work and no play for Winter! On June 26, the naturally brunette beauty, who’s been sporting scarlet tresses for Dog Years , spent the day sailing in a teeny Americana bikini. To celebrate her 2-millionth follower, she shared a snap of herself cruising in the two-piece. “Wow! I can’t believe it,” she wrote. “love you guys so much ❤️ #thankyou #love”

Ariel Winter has lots to celebrate as she enters the New Year. But according to a video she posted, showing off her bikini body, it seems the 21-year-old may be happiest about recent changes to her physique.
The Modern Family actress took to Instagram on Wednesday to share footage of herself on a warm-weather vacation, looking out into the water before peering over her shoulder and flashing a peace sign. She simply captioned it with the hashtag “#happynewyear” and even tagged her trainer, @mackfit .
Naturally, the comments were flooded with well-wishes for 2020 in addition to comments on Winter’s appearance. “Well, I’m not sure there’s a better way to welcome 2020!” and “2020 looks very promising!” two people wrote. Another commented, “Peaches come to mind for some reason.”
Winters started documenting her fitness journey in October when she posted a video of herself in the gym, working with her trainer Mack on her new goals.
The actress even opened up during an interview with Women’s Health about her decision to switch the antidepressant medication that she was taking, which ultimately helped to balance out her metabolism and allowed her to see more results from her workouts.
“When I changed meds, and started feeling better about myself mentally, losing weight was helpful because it made me feel like I wasn’t just stuck,” she told the magazine. “I hate being stuck anywhere in life.”
