Ariel Winter’s Most Fashionable Braless Moments Over the Years: See Photos!

Modern Family alum Ariel Winter is one of the most fashionable actresses in young Hollywood. Whether she’s posing on the red carpet or stepping out on the street, the Los Angeles native is always dressed to impress — and that includes some memorable braless moments .
Not only is Ariel stylish and talented, but she’s also honest! Over the years, the former sitcom star has opened up about self-love and body image on a number of occasions, most notably after deciding to undergo breast reduction surgery .
“It really did happen overnight. I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I would grow boobs!’ and then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop,” Ariel recalled during a 2015 interview with Glamour magazine . “I was 15 years old with [size] F [breasts]. It’s like, ‘How do you navigate that?'”
Ultimately, her decision to go under the knife was less about appearances, and more about quality of life. “It started to hurt so bad that I couldn’t take the pain,” Ariel said. “I got it for myself. I can’t even really put it into words about how amazing it feels to really feel right.”
Prior to undergoing breast reduction surgery, Ariel, who got her start on Modern Family 2009, never felt comfortable in her own skin. “We live in a day and age where everything you do is ridiculed. The internet bullies are awful. I could post a photo where I feel good, and 500 people will comment about how fat I am and that I am disgusting,” she explained.
“On [red carpets], I just said to myself, ‘You have to do your best to look confident and stand up tall and make yourself look as good as you can in these photos,’ because everyone is going to see them. I definitely seemed confident; I’m an actress, that’s what we do,” Ariel admitted. “But on the inside, I wasn’t feeling so happy.”
Nowadays, Ariel appears happier and healthier than ever! Since Modern Family wrapped in 2020, the A-lister is focused on other projects, like Don’t Log Off and Crimelands , as well as spending time with her boyfriend, Luke Benward .

Ariel Winter admits that she "had a hard time finding confidence" as she grew into a young woman while on Modern Family -- but that's all changed.
The 18-year-old actress poses topless in unretouched photos for SELF , and opens up about how she came to accept her curves.
"Growing up in the spotlight was quite possibly the worst for my self-esteem," she says. "When I started [ Modern Family ], I had a completely different body than what happened overnight at 12 years old. I was stick thin, I had no chest, I had no butt -- I had nothing. I was totally flat, and I was so sad about it. Then automatically, overnight, my body changed drastically. I was a D cup and had a bigger butt, and my waist was expanding. Everything was getting bigger. I automatically got this hate and judgment online."
Winter says it was her co-star, Sofia Vergara, that helped her come to accept her body transformation. "I had a great role model in Sofia growing up, with her being a curvy woman that was super proud of who she was and what she looked like,” she shares. “[Sofia] could see that I was struggling a little bit with how to deal with my body, and was always trying to give me advice, like, ‘Here are some brands that would look good on our body type,’ or ‘Wear whatever you want, and feel good about yourself.’”
Winter also credits her older sister, Shanelle Workman, whom she lives with, for encouraging her to be comfortable in her own skin. “I look up to her so much," she gushes. "I would listen to her talk to me, saying, ‘It doesn’t matter what other people think. You are who you are. It’s not going to change. Love yourself for who you are. People are going to hate regardless of what you do. You could conform to everything they say, and they’re still going to find something to pick. Or you could be yourself and be happy and not listen to what they say.’”
Winter decided to get a breast reduction when she was 17 -- her surgical scar can be seen in the photos for SELF -- and since then, has been outspoken on social media about loving one's body. "I think people make a lot of judgments about me based on what I wear and all the things that I do," she explains. "They kind of glorify and objectify a lot of the things that I do, and I wish people would just see me as the normal 18-year-old that I am. I’m doing the same things that everybody my age is doing."
When speaking to ET , Winter further defended the risque selfies she shares on Instagram and Snapchat. "Everybody is so hyped up on the fact that I post photos where my butt's out. It's a butt. Everyone has a butt," she said. "It's like, 'Let me live! I'm enjoying my life, you're enjoying your life, you should be posting your butt if you like it, too!'"

Ariel Winter rose to fame playing Alex Dunphy on Modern Family , which is currently in its 47th season on ABC.
(We kid, of course, but seriously — remember when shows used to end?)
Anyway, in the several decades since the show premiered, Ariel has managed to eclipse the series and escape the curse of the washed-up child star.
That’s partially due to her work in a wide array of film and television projects.
And of course, Ariel’s candid comments about her difficult childhood and her decision to undergo breast reduction surgery have endeared her to millions who have faced similar struggles.
But if we’re being completely honest, the real reason that Ariel has so flawlessly made the leap from ensemble actor to breakout star is her social media presence.
Yes, that’s a euphemistic way of saying people really seem to enjoy Ariel Winter bikini photos — but she owes her popularity to much more than just her racy selfies.
Ariel is unashamed to bare all in much more important ways than showing off her figure.
Take her cover shoot for the new issue of Pulse Spikes magazine.
The extreme close-up image features an unretouched Ariel sporting minimal makeup.
The intention, of course, is to highlight not only Ariel’s natural beauty, but also her bravery.
Inside the mag, fans will find an interview that’s every bit as revealing as the photo.
“It was definitely more of a difficult process for me,” says the actress, who turned 21 last week.
“It is just something you think about like, ‘Oh, well I am going to be photographed in this setting. Oh no, what if I look weird? I got a pimple today!’ But it was nice to be able to do that.”
Ariel says she struggled with her self-image for years, and her anxiety was exacerbated by growing up in the spotlight.
She says it’s only in recent years that she came to the realization that obsessing over the perceptions of others is a sure path to chronic anxiety.
“I realized that it didn’t matter… the only person that matters is me because I am the only one who has to live with me,” she tells Pulse Spikes.
“Taking time to think about that and understand what is going on and why you feel that way, instead of brushing it aside, is important. Why live hating yourself when there is no real reason to?”
The interview serves as a reminder that its Ariel’s forthright demeanor more than her famous figure that’s made her a household name.
That said, she’d probably leave a few million fans disappointed if she stopped documenting her trips to the beach.
