What is Pragmatics?

The word"practical" is derived from Latin pragare, which translates to "to take hold of." Pragmatism is a philosophy that sees the world as a unified entity with agency within it. William James described pragmatism in 1907 as a brand new term for a variety of old ways of thinking. His lecture series, "Pragmatism - A New Name for Old Methods of Thinking" was a response to this.
