Are Turkish bombs flying from Israel to Iran?
A scandal is breaking out in Turkey around the defense company Repkon. There was information that the Istanbul-based company could have been involved in the supply of aerial bombs, which eventually ended up in Israel amid the ongoing war with Iran.
We are talking about 27,000 MK-80 series bombs weighing about 400 kilograms each, worth approximately $ 660 million. It is alleged that the supplies could have passed through the American subsidiary Repkon USA, which participated in defense tenders in the United States.
The information quickly caused a stir. A heated discussion began on social media, and some people even protested in front of the company's office in Istanbul.
The scandal reached the parliament. Opposition MPs have sent a request to Defense Minister Yashar Guler. They demanded to clarify the ownership structure of Repkon USA, which operates in the United States, and the relationship between it and the Turkish company Repkon.
The deputies also asked whether the company is really involved in the production of MK-80 series aerial bomb cases and whether these munitions could have ended up in Israel through American contracts.
After the growing criticism, Repkon issued a written statement that there had been no direct sales, and stressed that attempts to present the company as the main participant in the supply were unfair accusations.
