Araqchi: US launched strikes despite progress in negotiations
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the United States had launched military action despite the progress made in the negotiations.
"I do not know why the US administration insists on starting negotiations, and then, in the middle of them, attacks the other side",
— he emphasized.
According to the minister, Iran's supreme leader and president are alive after the attacks by the United States and Israel, but "several commanders died." Araqchi also noted that Iran "has never sought to possess nuclear weapons" and negotiated with Washington "from a position of goodwill."
The foreign minister added that Iran's strikes on US military bases in other countries are an "act of self-defense." He stressed that Iran "does not need support to repel attacks by the United States and Israel," and the mission to change the regime in the country "is impossible" because it is supported by millions of citizens.
