ArFF / Statement COVID-19 #05 - EN
Buenos Aires City, March 13th, 2021
A year ago, we opened this mean of communication due to the advance of Coronavirus in Argentina. Since then, this has been a channel of direct contact between the event and the community.
Since our last statement back in June, we have been closely monitoring the epidemiological situation, analyzing different variables and scenarios with different possibilities of adapting and being able to celebrate an in person edition of the event in 2021. Unfortunately, we have reached a difficult and unavoidable conclusion: Safety and certainty are far from adequate to hold a physical edition of Argentina FurFiesta during 2021.
WE KNOW that this raises many questions, so we ask that you carefully read all of the following:
What about my ticket?
All tickets for the 2021 in person edition must either: be rolled over to the 2022 in person edition -keeping the same tier-, be donated to the con or be refunded.
You will have until October 29th, 2021 to take any of these three actions by logging into your account on our website www.furfiesta.com. After this date, all tickets that have yet to take action will be automatically rolled over to 2022.
Why is the event postponing? Was there no possibility of doing it by the end of 2021?
This decision is the culmination of a long process of analysis, following the advice provided by professionals we consult, always thinking about your safety and well-being and also taking into account what is best for the community and the event.
To date, massive events are not allowed in the City of Buenos Aires, recently the City has approved a protocol for conventions and congresses that imposes conditions that are difficult to fulfill for an event like ArFF!. If we set out to hold the Con under these guidelines, your experience would be severely degraded. Even under this assumption, the execution of the event could not be guaranteed, because the stages in the startup plan of the city might be reversed.
Online Convention? Isn't it the same as Open Days?
Open Days were little ArFF experiences at your home, we never thought of them as an “Online Convention”, but rather as a live show. This time, building on what we learned from the Open Days, we will go much further.
An Online Convention is a comprehensive proposal that links different spaces and activities simultaneously, it is an experience that we understand as much more interactive / immersive than an Open Day.
We have several projects underway and we hope to provide you with a memorable event that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. In the coming weeks we will have more news as well as the opening of calls-for panels, dancing competition, dealers den and other surprises.
As a result, there will be no ArFF! Open Days during 2021. All the energy of the staff will be dedicated to the virtual edition 2021 and to the preparations needed by the in person edition of 2022 that will require a new theme, identity and guests.
ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU!
2020 left us valuable lessons about how we can adapt to a difficult, stark and changing reality; and 2021 will put us to the test again. We learned to use new tools to keep in touch. Along the way we helped those who needed it most and we managed to keep this dream afloat despite adversities. This is an achievement that belongs to this incredible community and each one of you is a living testimony of that.
As always, we will publish all the news on our social media and on our Telegram channel (@furfiesta).
Cheers, thank you and please take care.
The Staff of ArFF!
