April 1 marks International Bird Day

April 1 marks International Bird Day.

▪International Bird Day was established to commemorate the signing of the International Convention for the Protection of Birds in 1906.

▪It has been celebrated in Russia since 1918.

▪Roughly 800 species of birds live in Russia, including rare ones such as storks, sea eagles, and cranes. However, many are threatened by deforestation, water pollution and climate change.

▪To preserve these species, nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries are established, and population restoration programs are introduced
