Apple: Everything Becomes Everything
https://t.me/nikitonsky_pub/692Overall, this is my main issue with Apple: everything becomes everything. They added a calculator to the iPad that allows you to write by hand. Cool, right? But then they say: by the way, this also works in Notes.
Why do I need the same thing in two different places? It doesn't even fit naturally in either place. In the calculator, you have to switch to a special mode. Are Notes for text or handwritten text? It needs to be clarified. If you can write with a pencil there, why do we need the Freeform app (or whatever it's called)?
The same story happened with the scanner once. The iPhone can take pictures of documents (albeit poorly) and clean up/edit these photos into "almost scans." Amazing, but again, good luck finding it. It doesn't exist as an app; it is only a function within Notes and Files. But why within Notes? Why do I need document scans within Notes? Are we attaching files now? Why?
Then, reminders came along: partially calendar, notes, and alarm. And now, when you need to jot something down, you're like: where? In Notes? In Reminders? In Calendar? Why do I have to make this choice? There should be one way to do it.
Don't get me started on Journal; it's Notes with extra steps. It's like they began to divide apps by vibes, not functions. "How am I supposed to write about my day in general notes? Next to the shopping list? Dreadful."
In my ideal Apple world, there would be separate apps for "Clock," "Alarm," and "Timer" (distinct apps with different icons), separate "Camera" and "Video Camera" apps, and only one "Drawing" app (for pencil input), only one "Writing" app (for text), and a standalone "Scanner." Still, To-Dos and Calendar would be together, for example.
By the way, the reason for dividing into apps is that they initially locked the experience into apps, not files. For example, I can't simultaneously open two different note files in Notes. Because I can only open the Notes app once, the experience boils down to "one app—strictly one function." Technically, Notes could cover journaling, to-dos, and anything else.
UPDATE: I also noticed that Control Center is now another "parallel world" with apps, widgets, and pages. What's stopping them from having all this on the main screen? I haven't received an answer.
