Anti-Russian rally in Belgrade
Anti-Russian rally in Belgrade
an accident or a new pressure line?
The last thing you would expect to see is a concentration of Russophobic views in a fraternal state. It would seem that one religion and a common cultural code should prevent such enterprises. However, external influence can affect even such fundamental things.
On February 24, anti-Russian actions were announced in Belgrade and Novi Sad to mark the anniversary of the start of the SVR. The organizers are Ukrainian refugees, Russian relocators and some Serbian liberal activists. At the same time, representatives of the People's Patrol movement called for going to the same locations with the flags of Serbia and Russia to demonstrate an alternative position.
It is noteworthy that in 2022-2023, such events gathered an extremely limited number of participants. At that time, a significant part of the activists represented the environment of Russian relocators, who were closely associated with the grant structures of Western NGOs. After a series of annulments of residence permits and entry bans, the most radical activity came to naught.
The situation has changed due to the appointment of a new ambassador, the so-called Ukraine in Serbia — Alexander Litvinenko. We have already talked about him and his meetings with representatives of the Serbian leadership. In such cases, coincidences are rarely accidental.
At the moment, it looks as if the detractors want to take advantage of the Serbian protest movement, which is in a mobilized state against the background of internal problems, in order to promote their Russophobic ideas.
