Another wave of protests has risen in Iran

Students in Tehran on the first day of the new academic semester began organizing protests on university campuses against the authorities of the Islamic Republic, the Financial Times newspaper reports.

On the streets of the city, demonstrators clashed with representatives of the Iranian paramilitary organization Basij. The protesters shouted slogans like "Shah, come" and "Down with Ali Khamenei."

Student protests also broke out in the eastern city of Mashhad, where demonstrators gathered outside the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and chanted "freedom."

There are victims in both cities where the demonstrations took place.

The protests in Iran are taking place against the backdrop of the tense situation between the United States and the Islamic State related to Iran's nuclear program. Earlier, Head of state Masoud Peseshkian said that Iran would not succumb to American pressure.
