In March 2020, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation's "Chanteuse: Celebrating New Orleans Women in Music" concert series was cut short as New Orleans locked down. Now, the series continues with their first in-person events since that time!
Starting May 29, Chanteuse: Celebrating New Orleans Women in Music returns. This six-week concert series features new talents alongside NEA Jazz Master, triple Grammy Winning and Tony Award Winning, UN Ambassador Dee Dee Bridgewater. Six concerts will be held over the course of six weeks at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center. Chanteuse is part of an ongoing effort by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation to address inequities in the music industry.
All Chanteuse concerts will take place in the outdoor space at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center, 1225 N. Rampart St. New Orleans. Safety protocols can be reviewed at https://www.jazzandheritage.org/chanteuse .
Doors will open at 6pm prior to the start of the performance or program.
Admission is free to all six concerts, but attendees must RSVP using this link to reserve your ticket(s) . WWOZ will be video streaming the sets from Meschiya Lake & the Little Big Horns (May 29), Anjelika "Jelly" Joseph (July 2), and Dee Dee Bridgewater (July 3) at wwoz.org and our Facebook page .

Galactic will be joined by vocalist Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph when they hit the stage July 3 at Nottingham Park in Avon.

Avon announced Wednesday that Galactic featuring Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph will headline the town’s 36th annual Salute to the USA on Sunday, July 3, in Harry A. Nottingham Park. Cory Wong will open the performance.
Gates for the annual Independence Day celebration open at 5 p.m. with live music beginning at 6 p.m.
Galactic draws on 25 years together as a band with 10 albums, over 2,000 gigs, and tens of millions of streams. The New Orleans-based quintet — Ben Ellman (saxophone and harmonica), Robert Mercurio (bass), Stanton Moore (drums and percussion), Jeffrey Raines (guitar) and Richard Vogal (keyboards) — have kept the torch burning through five U.S. presidential regimes, the turn-of-the-century, Hurricane Katrina, a global pandemic, and a much-anticipated recovery.
The collective has supported Juvenile on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, contributed music to blockbuster soundtracks such as “Now You See Me,” and performed at Coachella, Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (22 times).
The group is joined by vocalist Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph as they continue 2022 with a headline tour and more new music.
“We’ve just achieved 25 years as a band of brothers, so we know how to work with each other and move ourselves through the next 25 years,” Robert said. “We’re always trying to push ourselves with our songwriting and studio collaborations. I look forward to where the future will take us.”
Opener Cory Wong is a Grammy-nominated guitarist, producer and composer who has been touring worldwide. He’s also a member of Vulfpeck and Fearless Flyers.
Wong’s resume includes performances with Jon Batiste’s band and as a guest performer on “Late Night” with Stephen Colbert; hosting his own podcast, “Wong Notes.”

Of her character and her journey in the movie, Anjelika recently told Screen Rant , “I’ve always played Fareeda as this uber confident girl; that best friend who will pull you up and remind you who you are, and be like, ‘Girl, get it together. You are stunning. You are amazing. You’re smart, you’re whatever.’ And for the first time, we see Fareeda doubt herself a little bit, and I think that’s just a very interesting moment.”

Griffin Gluck displays his shaved head while attending a screening of his new movie Tall Girl 2 held at Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades, Calif., on Friday night (February 11).
The actor was joined by his co-stars Ava Michelle , Luke Eisner , Anjelika Washington , Clara Wilsey , Jan Luis Castellanos and Angela Kinsey at the screening, which took place on release day!
Also in attendance was Ava ‘s boyfriend Bryan Pearn and Griffin ‘s family, Angela ‘s daughter Isabel and stepson Jack , as well as the movie’s director Emily Ting .
Over the weekend, the movie reached the No 1 spot on Netflix, and at the time of this post, currently sits at No 5.
