Anime moms can shape the fate of just one character, or the entire narrative, so we've decided to honour the very best ones.
There are so many ways in which even the most mundane of settings have new life breathed into them with a form of storytelling unique only to anime , and nothing else. This can be seen in the various slice of life stories that have a narrative that only anime can depict, making it a different form of entertainment that is appealing in its own unique way. Even something that seems so normal like the concept of mothers can be turned on its head for something wholly unlike anything you could've ever thought to be the case.
This list commemorates some of the strongest moms in anime that have carved their way into our hearts with their unique characterizations and familiarity. Oh, and let's not mention the bunch that can easily kick butt if need be without even breaking so much as a sweat. From mental fortitude to physical superiority, these moms have broken down any preconceived barriers and shown that there is nothing that can stop them from becoming an unrelenting force who can achieve anything they put their mind to.

When one talks about one of the most iconic mothers in anime history, then Bulma from Dragon Ball is definitely at the top of this list. The fact that she's a part of one of the most popular anime series of all time certainly helps.
We've seen her grow from a teenager into a mother. Her relationship with Vegeta was something nobody could've predicted, and she's been more than a lovable mother to Trunks and Bulla in Vegeta's absence.
A major aspect of being a parent is sacrifice. There are many things that people enjoy that need to be forsaken when they have the added responsibility of taking care of a child.
Well, Carla Yaeger from Attack on Titan made the ultimate sacrifice. The sight of her being taken by a Titan still remains as one of the most memorable episode endings of all time. Coupling this with the fact that this happened in the very first episode of Attack On Titan , and you have a recipe for greatness.
Perhaps one of the most loving mothers on this list, the emotional fortitude displayed by Hana in Wolf Children is second to none. Taking care of one child is hard enough, but Hana needs to take care of two!

With a husband that's constantly overseas, it must be harrowing to constantly provide for your kids.
Another single mother with her fair share of problems, Yasuko might seem somewhat irresponsible at a first glance. She frequently finds herself under the table, forcing her son to clean her mess up. However, don't think bad of her — Yasuko actually does way more than you might think.
The passing of her husband meant that she had to take up multiple jobs to provide for her son, which she tries her hardest to accomplish. Her efforts are admirable, and should definitely be recognized and appreciated.
The story of Bell-mère is one of the most emotional tales during the early goings of One Piece , which provided some much-needed character development for Nami and established her character to be more than just a person who only looked out for herself.
Sacrifice is a theme we've already touched upon in the list, and Bell-mère makes the ultimate sacrifice when she chooses the lives of her daughters over her own. This arc wraps up in a nice bit of redemption when Luffy smacks Arlong with all his might.
Chi-Chi, from Dragon Ball Z , seems like the cliche mother who wants her child to excel at everything and fail at nothing. While this might seem somewhat controlling, there's still a loving side to her that genuinely cares about Gohan and Goten.
Her limited knowledge regarding the field of martial arts meant that she was relegated to being a stay-at-home mom. She's taken over this role in stride and her outbursts have become the stuff of legends among the Dragon Ball fans.
The Parasyte anime was a breath of fresh air that did justice to a manga series that was fairly old. The concept of parasites taking over the bodies of humans is quite spooky, and the fact that this happens to Izumi's mother is a tragic event.

A person so mythical that she's still considered to be one of the most powerful Quincy around, even after her demise, Masaki Kurosaki technically bridged the gap between Shinigami and Quincy way before it was supposed to.
Since not a lot is known about her, we can't exactly compare her to the other fighters in Bleach . However, if Ishida could progress so far with his powers in a short span of time, then one can only wonder just how powerful Masaki actually was.
One of the most memorable women in anime, Kushina's red hair is not her only striking feature. The fact that she was selected to host the rogue chakra of the Nine-Tails goes to prove just how much of an integral character she was for the events of Naruto .
Her influence over her son stretched even after her demise, helping Naruto co-operate and — ultimately — befriend Kurama. While her abilities weren't shown in detail, what did make the cut was certainly quite impressive.
It's kinda weird and creepy how Krillin developed feelings for Android 18. The label of her being an "Android" certainly didn't stop him from trying to woo her, which is... well. Perhaps the fact that Android 18 was a robot with the instructions to destroy life on Earth should've knocked some sense into Krillin... but we digress.
Android 18 is definitely one of the most powerful fighters in the Dragon Ball universe. The fact that her brother actually won the Universe Tournament should serve as an indication towards her huge untapped potential, which can make her a daunting mother indeed.
Medusa Gorgon actually shares a ton of similarities with Ragyō Kiryūin from Kill La Kill. She's an incredibly powerful mother who hasn't exactly treated her kids properly... oh, and she also happens to be a major antagonist in her series.
Her powers are on a whole another level. The fact that she has one of the largest souls in the series makes her an incredibly powerful witch. Her big reveal as the villain after being a seemingly normal nurse is also quite memorable, making her entry in Soul Eater a turning point for the series as a whole.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the best anime shows of all time. The symbolism of this series is so prevalent that it's almost mandatory to watch the series twice to pick up on all the subtle messaging in the series. The participation of Yui Ikari might be the most disturbing aspect.

Tomoko is the mother of Josuke Higashikata . She fell in love with Joseph, and together they Josuke. As Joseph was already married to Suzy Q, he could not stay with Tomoko, and thus, he had to go back.
Tomoko was devastated by Joseph leaving, but she didn't let the setback affect her or her son's life. She raised Josuke mainly on her own and she ensured that he would have a great life. When he came down with a serious illness, Tomoko went to great lengths to get him to the hospital to save his life. It is also easy to see that many of Tomoko's qualities are reflected in Josuke.
Akari is the eldest of the Kawamoto sisters. When their grandmother and mother passed away, the sisters were extremely distressed. To make things worse, their father also walked out on them, so the responsibility fell on Akari to take care of her younger sisters.
Akari raised both of them on their own and made sure that they would not suffer from any kind of problem. Under her care, the sisters were able to live a predominantly trouble-free life. Akari is also extremely kind as she helped Rei, who was completely drunk and vulnerable. She brought him into their house to help him recover, and eventually, he became acquainted with the rest of her family. While Akari did not have any kids on her own, she acted as a mother to her sisters, which makes her one of the best anime moms.
Kyoko was the mother of Tohru Honda. During her younger days, Kyoko used to be a violent person, and she was also the leader of a gang. Kyoko could hardly keep herself out of trouble, but once she met Katsuya, everything changed.
Katsuya helped her to become a better person and eventually, she left the gang. After leaving the gang, Kyoko and Katsuya got married, and they had a daughter named Tohru. Clara Magnolia was the mother of Ann. She was suffering from a terminal illness, which made her body frail. Clara knew that she did not have much time to live, so she wanted to create as many happy memories with her daughter as she could.
In her short life, Clara taught her daughter to be kind and polite to people. Clara would also scold Ann if the latter tried to cause any kind of trouble, and in this way, Clara ensured that her daughter would not go down the wrong path. Suffice to say, Clara performed all the duties of being a mother to the best of her abilities, which makes her an extremely lovable character.
Trisha Elric married Hohenheim with the hopes of starting a family. However, Hohenheim left Trisha and the kids on their own. Trisha accepted the harsh reality and decided that she wouldn't let it affect her kids. She was an extremely loving mother, who took great care of her kids.
Trisha was brave as she raised them on her own. When she died of an illness, it caused Edward and Alphonse great distress and they decided to resurrect her, which shows how much they loved her.
Inko Midoriya is the mother of Midoriya Izuku. Originally, she was skeptical of Midoriya's chance of getting into U.A., but gradually she decided to be supportive of her son. Inko even designed a superhero costume for Midoriya, and she apologized to her son for her mistake, which is an extremely rare thing for a parent to do.
After Midoriya's admission, she monitors his progress and makes sure that her son is okay.
Kushina Uzumaki is the mother of Naruto Uzumaki, the main protagonist of Naruto . Kushina's motherhood did not last for long as Obito decided to attack the Hidden Leaf. Kushina sacrificed herself to save baby Naruto from the Nine-Tails. Before dying Minato sealed a bit of Kushina's chakra inside Naruto, which would come in handy later.
Naruto finally met Kushina when he was trying to tame the Nine-Tails , and the interaction between mother and son was very emotional. Kushina asked Naruto about his health and how he was doing and the final exchange between the two brought a tear to many eyes.
Bell-mere was a brave Navy soldier, who adopted Nojiko and Nami when they were young girls. She adored both Nojiko and Nami and taught them to be strong in the face of danger. The two girls learned many things from their mother, and they loved her a lot.
Bell-mere made the ultimate sacrifice for them when she gave all her money to Arlong to save Nami and Nojiko. As Bell-mere did not have enough money, Arlong killed her.
She has always been supportive of Ash's dream to become a Pokémon master. Delia Ketchum always tries to look out for her son and whenever Ash visits her, she makes sure that he has everything that he needs on his journey.
Despite Ash's journey continuing for twenty years, Delia is just as supportive of Ash as she was on the very first day.
Dadan is the leader of the mountain bandits on Mt. Colubo, but she was tasked with the responsibility of taking care of Ace by Monkey D. Garp . Dadan didn't react kindly to Garp's request, however, she had no choice but to accept.
Soon afterward, Ace was joined by Luffy and then Sabo, so Dadan had to take care of all three of them. When Luffy was held captive by Bluejam, she charged into Bluejam's place along with Ace to save Luffy. Dadan's love for the three kids was incredible and she even beat up Garp when Ace died.
Miyako is the mother of Shoyo Ishida, who serves as the main character of A Silent Voice . Her son was not easy to handle as a kid, but Miyako never stopped trying. When Shoyo got in trouble for bullying Nishimiya, Miyako apologized to her mother.
