The Devil Is A Part-Timer! is a pretty unique entry in the isekai anime genre. In typical isekai form, at the start of the anime, a demon lord is transported to the human world by his enemy, Emilia. The demon lord finds himself stuck on Earth and must begin to live undercover as a normal human.
In this world, he goes by Sadao Maou and gets himself a part-time job at the fast-food restaurant, MgRonald's. As he's a demon lord, he wants ultimate power, so he decides to work on taking over the human world too. Sadao isn't alone though, he landed on Earth with Alsiel, his general. During their time on Earth, they meet a range of humans and even acquaintances from back home. Fans of The Devil Is A Part-Timer! will likely enjoy these similar anime shows.
Sword Art Online is one of the most well-known entries in the isekai genre and is often the anime that introduces fans to the general as a whole. Kirito is an avid gamer who begins to play a virtual reality (VR) video game called Sword Art Online . This game transports players to the beautiful world of Aincrad, a multiplayer game where all players must defeat a variety of enemies.
All seems well until the creator of the game informs players that they are now trapped inside the video game indefinitely unless they defeat all one hundred levels in the game.
Iruma Suzuki is a pretty unlucky teenager; his parents have forced him to work throughout his life, despite Iruma only being fourteen years old. His parents go one step further as Iruma finds out that they sold him to a demon named Sullivan. Understandably, Iruma is terrified, he's face to face with a demon after all. Surprisingly, Sullivan simply wants a grandchild, and he offers to support Iruma no matter what, even if he is a human.
He enlists Iruma at Babyls, the demon school, where all demons attend. Iruma is petrified that the demon students will realize that he's actually a human, and tries his best to stay hidden. To his dismay, events lead to him becoming one of the most well-known students within the school, especially as Sullivan is the chairman of the school.
Rikka Takanashi believes that she has magical powers inside of her, and she doesn't try to hide this. She's very upfront about her supposed powers with others and often threatens them. The term Chuunibyou is used towards a person who thinks they're from another world and acts as if they're different than everyone else due to harnessing certain magical powers.
It's usually used as an insult towards those that behave like this, and many people try to hide the fact that they were once a Chunibyo. Rikka meets Yuuta Togashi, and after she displays her "special powers" it reminds him of a dark period in his past when he also used to be a Chunibyo.
In this universe, half-human and half-monsters exist in society. Tetsuo Takahashi is a biology teacher at Shibasaki High School and is highly interested in these mystical beings, who are usually referred to as Ajin or Demi. Luckily for him, he has three Demi students named Hikari, Kyouko, and Yuki. A certain teacher is also a Demi and loves to tease Tetsuo throughout the show.
The anime follows the three Demi students as Tetsuo gets to know them better to discover more about Ajin. Many comedic situations ensue, and Tetsuo slowly realizes that these Demi students may not be as different from normal humans as he originally thought.
Angels are expected to live amongst humans and study until they graduate to become real angels. Gabriel White Tenma is one of the best students in her class and is well on her way to becoming the top student and an impeccable angel.
The temptations of the human world are too much for Gabriel to handle, and she soon starts to neglect her angelic duties and studies when she becomes addicted to playing video games , becoming a recluse and shutting herself off from everyone she knows. Gabriel wears this proudly and even refers to herself as a Fallen Angel, but her demon friend Vignette tries her best to get Gabriel to start acting like her past self again.
A popular Japanese urban legend is that of the "Seven Wonders" in many schools. Hanako-san is a female ghost who many believe to exist within school bathrooms, including the girls' bathroom of Kamome Academy. If a student can summon Hanako-san then the ghost will grant one wish for the student.
Nene Yashiro is a student who is obsessed with the idea of a romantic connection, so when she hears about the wish-granting ghost, she doesn't hesitate to try to summon Hanako-san. To her surprise, the summoning works, but Nene discovers that Hanako is actually a male ghost. She eventually becomes Hanako-Kuns assistant and the show follows the many funny and dangerous, adventures that the pair go on.
As a horror fan, Miko Yotsuya gets the shock of her life when she discovers she can see monsters. Terrifyingly, she realizes she's the only person who can actually hear and see these monsters , making her feel isolated from the rest of the human world. Miko has to learn how to deal with these petrifying sights every day, and it gets worse.
She mustn't look directly at these monsters, and can't let them know that she can see them, otherwise who knows what would happen. Understandably, it becomes more and more difficult for Miko to do her best to ignore the presence of the monsters, and fans of the show see Miko struggle through the stress that this inevitably causes.
Rin Okumura's life changes when he finds out that he and his brother are actually Satan's sons. His father, the ruler of Gehenna, informs him that he wants Rin to come back to the demon world to take over Assiah. Rin rejects this offer and decides to become an exorcist to defeat demons, inspired by the man who raised him.
He eventually enrolls himself at True Cross Academy, the school for aspiring exorcists. The anime follows Rin's journey in becoming an exorcist, as well as becoming friends with his fellow students and the many trials and tribulations that come with existing in a universe where demons truly exist.
Jahy was once the most powerful person in the Dark Realm until a girl destroys her beloved, and powerful, mana crystal. This in turn destroys Jahy's home realm too, and much to her dismay, it shrinks her body to that of a child, a long way away from her powerful form.
Finding herself in the human world, she must live as a local and work out how to survive in this brand new world. She gets a part-time job to survive and pay for an apartment, whilst simultaneously trying to find a way to fix the mana crystal so she can permanently retain her original form and travel back to her home, the Dark Realm.
In this slice of life anime, Kobayashi's life changes when she opens her front door on the way to work one day. She's faced with a dragon outside of her apartment, who quickly turns into a bubbly girl in a maid outfit named Tooru. The night before Kobayashi had gotten extremely drunk and had actually met Tooru before, who explained to her that she had nowhere to stay.
Kobayashi, not thinking straight due to being drunk, offers her apartment as a place for Tooru to stay. While this explains why Tooru is suddenly at her apartment door, Kobayashi is understandably in shock when she realizes that this cute girl is actually a dragon. Tooru offers to become a maid for Kobayashi to repay her for her generosity when allowing her to stay in her home.

“Hataraku Maou-sama! (The Devil is a Part-timer!)” follows the story of Satan and his transition from Demon Lord of Ente Isla to “Employee of the Month” in a certain fast-food chain on Earth. It all began with a war! After suffering defeat at the hands of Hero Emilia, Satan was forced to retreat to Earth with his right-hand man, Demon General Alsiel. There on Earth, Satan was rendered powerless, and so, he donned the name Sadao Maou in order to start a new life.
Together with his Alsiel (now Ashiya Shirou), Sadao Maou must work in order to make ends meet and finally conquer the world, one step at a time. Being the lowly employee that he currently is, Sadao Maou shall climb the corporate ladder until he can once again reclaim his stand at the top of the world!
With this anime showering the audience with lots of crazy antics and monstrous humor, many are on the lookout for more! And so, with certain things in mind, including humor, demons, fantasy worlds, otherworldly creatures, and outrageous scenarios, this list was made! Raul Chaser has dreamt of becoming a hero and extinguishing evil in the world ever since he was young. And so, when he reached the right age, he applied for the Hero Training Program—a program dedicated to training heroes who might be able to defeat the Demon Lord. Unfortunately for Raul, the Hero Training Program was suspended indefinitely because someone suddenly defeated the Demon Lord, and the world is finally at peace.
Now, instead of becoming a hero, Raul has decided to join the workforce. He now works with small electronics in a shop called the Magic Leon Shop. Everything is going fine in his mundane life until—a peculiar person shows up! As it turns out, it’s a new co-worker! And it’s not just any regular co-worker. It’s Fino Bloodstone—the daughter of the late Demon King! A wannabe hero and a wannabee Demon Lord working together? Sounds crazy but such is part of the mysterious whims of life and fate!
In the world of demons, there exists a strange vampire. His name is—Staz Charlie Blood! Instead of sucking blood from humans, he chills in his territory enjoying stuff from the human world, particularly Japan. Yes, Staz is an otaku, and he loves anime, manga, and games! So, when a human girl accidentally makes her way into his territory, an erratic door of opportunity breaks open.
Staz has finally found the moment he has been waiting for in his whole life. A real human girl is right before him! But then, a tremor unfolds! A demon is attacking his territory, and with this attack comes the human girl’s untimely demise! So, what does Staz do? Annihilate the attacker, make a promise that he’ll bring the human girl back to life, and prepare for their one-of-kind journey! After all, this crazy event is also Staz’s ticket to the human world!
Yato is a god, but unlike others, he is less known and has no shrine dedicated to him. As such, he does odd jobs for humans 5-yen apiece in hopes that in the future, he’ll get the fame and popularity he so deserves. One day, his weapon-partner deserts him for being useless and practically hopeless. Is it the end for him? No, because a human girl named Hiyori Iki shows up to save him and change his life forever!
Hiyori thought that she was saving Yato from a car accident, when in fact, she did not know that he was actually a god and sort of invincible from such damage. As a result, Hiyori was the one who got hit! Luckily, she survived with only her soul becoming loose as the repercussion. Seeing Yato the moment she woke up, Hiyori asks for his help. It’s his fault after all! And so comes the deal: Yato will fix her soul if she helps him in finding a new weapon-partner.
The hero and the demon king have finally met! But to the hero’s overwhelming surprise, the demon king is actually a demon queen, and she’s really not what humans have described her to be throughout the years!
The hero’s name is Yuusha while the demon queen’s name is Maou. And with their destined meeting comes a shocking revelation! The war between the demons and humans isn’t really what it seems to be. And so, Maou is in need of Yuusha’s assistance. The hero and demon queen working together? Absurd! But it might just work, and there’s a reason behind it! With the peace and future of the world at stake, an unlikely alliance between a demon and human is formed!
Reigning as the strongest delinquent, Oga Tatsumi brawls every day proving his strength in the school of mostly delinquents—Ishiyama High School. But one day, Oga encounters the greatest trouble of all in the form of a peculiar baby. That baby is Beelzebub, and Oga has to take care of him!
As if Beelzebub is just an ordinary baby, well he’s not! He’s actually the son of the demon king! And he has come to the human world in order to be raised by a really strong human, in this case—Oga! At home, in school, and everywhere—Oga shall raise Beelzebub and pamper him to become the next demon king!
Akuto Sai has one dream—it’s to lead the world on the righteous path! That’s all he wanted ever since he was born. With good deeds, goodwill, and good power, Akuto wants to be a supreme leader who’s kind and thoroughly good. But then, it happened! A spirit that can predict a person’s future occupation reads into Akuto’s future. And the result? Akuto will become the future “Demon King!”
And so, with his reputation soured because of his destiny, Akuto tries to redeem himself by proving to everyone that destiny can be changed. His fate is not yet set in stone, and he’ll do everything to alter it! Misfortunes, wretched destinies, and calamities—these are all nothing compared to the great power of Akuto!

After experiencing an untimely, pathetic, and useless death right when he finally went out of his abode, Kazuma Satou wakes up in a place that is totally different from what he’s used to. As it turns out, he’s in the afterlife, and before him is the goddess, Aqua!
He’s presented with two options: (1) proceed to heaven, and (2) get reincarnated in a game-like fantasy world. Being the gamer that he is, Kazuma picks option no. 2! And so, his new life begins! But before everything else, he also gets to pick one thing that he can bring with him to the new world. Without a second thought, Kazuma makes an outrageous choice. What he chose to bring with him is—Aqua the goddess herself!
Rin Okumura is a troublesome young man who gets by through daily life by just letting it unfold mundanely. One day, his ordinary life gets overturned! From out of the blue, he gets attacked by creatures known as demons! Surprised by the sudden escalation, he discovers that his family knew something he didn’t all along. And to top it all, his father is actually none other than—the leader of the demons, Satan!
His family is on the move to protect him no matter what. As for Satan, he wants him to join him and conquer the world! But Rin has a different view on things! His family matters most to him, so, despite discovering that he’s a demon himself and the son of Satan at that, he does the unexpected! Rin decides to become one who slays demons—an exorcist!
"Shinryaku! Ika Musume" ("Squid Girl")
Ika Musume is a squid girl born from the depths of the sea. She has come to the surface with one goal in mind—domination! She wants to dominate the surface because the humans who live on it are ruthless polluters! If it means protecting the ocean, she up to the task of spreading terror on the surface.
But, Ika Musume crashes on an unexpected barrier—the surface isn’t really what it seems! She tries to be deliberately evil but she just can’t do it. She’s always distracted! And so, instead of punishing the humans, she begins to live with them and learn about them. Who knows, perhaps she can find a better way to educate them about the sea and its existence as a whole.
The caped baldy, the hero for fun, and the one punch man—this is all Saitama! Saitama does hero work in his spare time, beating villains one at a time. And heck, no one can oppose him. All it takes is one punch to bring anyone to his/her/its knees!
Despite being omnipotent and all, Saitama has a problem—he’s actually not an official hero! And besides that, he’s also bored, finding no thrill in his one-punch antics! And so, he figures something out with the cyborg Genos. Enlist as an official hero—this is the solution! Thus, Saitama begins to climb his way up for the sake of fun and excitement, all while saving the world and gaining gradually the heroic reputation he truly deserves.
