If you are contemplating joining Soriano’s semi-Arian cult that is deceptively named “Members of Church of God International” or “Ang Dating Daan” cult, these are a few things you should expect to find upon joining;
False,unusual doctrines and cultic teachings
Everything Soriano teaches is utterly false, cultic and misleading. Soriano is commonly known for false preaching-teaching his followers such ghastly doctrines of demons like drinking urine to heal diseases, God has a “butt”, humans are “gods” masturbation is not a sin and that homosexuals will go to heaven regardless of their sinful nature. Among the cultic teachings you will find in Ang Dating Daan include: Jesus has no human nature, Trinity, Incarnation and such other basic Christian beliefs are false. You will also be exposed to cultic teachings such as the “last days”, emphasis on leaders(Soriano and Daniel Razon) instead of Jesus as well as distortion of Bible passages to mislead followers.
False reasoning and rhetorical fallacies
Soriano is known for using techniques of false reasoning to mislead his followers. Once you join the Ang Dating Daan, do not expect to improve your reasoning capacity. You will be expected to reason like a fool so that the Ang Dating Daan can play on your life. You will be expected to make statements and opinions that are utterly false and fallacious. Soriano and his cult incessantly pollute the minds of their followers with false reasoning-deceptively convincing their followers that those outside the cult do not have the truth and are elements from Satan. Soriano’s followers have been formed to recite statements of rhetorical fallacies that they alone have the truth even if they have not done the research to prove it. In reality, it is the MCGI that untruth and is instrumented by Satan himself-given the many false and damnable teachings/practices such as the denial of the Godhead, the human nature of Jesus and the incessant religious attacks. Upon joining the ADD and discovering teachings that are not truth, you will wonder how you came to believe such a deceptive cult ma-squandering as a religion.
Mind control is a prevalent practice in the Ang Dating Daan. Followers are not supposed to reason on their own. On the other hand, they are expected to believe everything Soriano teaches without questioning because in the Ang Dating Daan, Soriano is “ sent by God to teach the truth from the Bible” and therefore deserves much honor and less doubt. You will not be expected to read the Bible on your own but swallow only what “Soriano teaches from the Bible” -often circulated through Bible Expositions on huge screens, websites, social media and blogs. You will also be expected to save as much time as possible to attend indoctrination services at the ADD Coordinating centers to listen to Soriano because the world might end soon and you might lose your salvation while engaged in worldly things. In short, you will no longer be in charge of your life, you will always be scared out of fear for disobeying ADD regulations and in the long run you will be mentally disturbed. Yes, slavishly devoting their lives to a cult that cares more for their own financial gain than the mental welfare of their loyal followers is something which should enter the minds of ADD members as enforced by the Ang Dating Daan.
Hatred and religious attacks are an enforced policy in the Ang Dating Daan. You will be expected to hate and loathe those who criticize or expose Soriano and the Ang Dating Daan for being false prophets. Soriano and other ADD leaders will direct you to abuse, loathe, curse and intentionally harass them. You will be told to call those outside the ADD as “demonyo” or “tools from satan” because they are not part of the Ang Dating Daan. If you happen to leave the ADD cult, you will experience the same treatment. You will be called Satan’s tool who only joined the cult to spy and “who has left the truth”. Why? Because in the Ang Dating Daan reasoning, truth is exclusively found in the MCGI and nowhere else. However, the truth they imply is not the truth of the Bible-but the fabricated and false teachings of Soriano.
Upon joining the Ang Dating Daan, you will not be expected to remain “part of the world”! You be expected to be part of a fabricated world of the ADD-which is not a world of reality but a world of deception and stupidity. You will be expected to avoid social life with your non-ADD friends, you will not be expected to participate in worldly things like Christmas, you will not be expected to purse higher education, you will not be expected to booze, attend a picnic, or even other pleasures of life. You will be expected to lead a “dull” life because time left is little and you may perish while involved in worldly things.
The Ang Dating Daan is only for business
Difficult as it may be for you and Soriano’s followers to believe, the ADD is a “Bible cult” based on business schemes disguising as Christianity. It has employed a method of religious economic power similar to that of Charles Rusell-the founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Soriano is a deceptive business man using religion to enrich himself.
One of the tricks he uses is the stance against tithes. Ignorant of the fact that Soriano uses this humble approach to amass wealth, his followers give him money on a large scale. You will be expected to offer money for the various contribution schemes in the cult. These schemes are the clever business mechanisms the Ang Dating Daan uses to fleeces loyal followers of their hard earned cash. In the end, the poor folks in the Ang Dating Daan remain poor-because they lack wisdom that it is not the giver who prospers but the one who is given. In short, Soriano is a serial thug.
Now that you are conscious about what to expect from joining the Ang Dating Daan, what is your idea? Do you think you will gain salvation from the Ang Dating Daan or damnation? I bet you realize it is the latter? May be the Bible would a good starting point. Please open your Bible on your own, read these verses;
“There shall be among you,” says St.Peter, “lying teachers, who shall bring sects of perdition, and denying the Lord who brought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction,” (2nd Peter. 2:1) . These are false teachers like Soriano. And going on to describe them, the Apostle says, “Their judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not,” (verse 3) ; “the Lord knoweth how … to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be tormented; and especially them who … despise governments, audacious, pleasing themselves, they fear not to bring in sects, blaspheming,” (verse 9) ; “leaving the right way, they have gone astray,” (verse 15); “these are wells without water, and clouds tossed with whirlwinds, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved,” (verse 17) . Good God!
Now dear brethren, would you like part of these sects of perdition? Don’t you dread being tormented in hell as St.Peter warns? Think twice!

A subreddit for the Philippines and all things Filipino!
I've noticed their inordinate amount of time they do in worship (their Thanksgiving every weekend that takes 5-7 hours, the quarterly Special Thanksgiving that takes 3 days, their worship that takes 2 hours, their prayer meeting that lasts for 1.5-2 hours, include the Bible exposition/study that takes 2.5 hours). I'm curious if they can still find time to do what they like (e.g. hobbies, recreational activities).
I am a member of the Church of God International, and the majority of my family are members for about 20 years (almost the same time I was born). Not to elevate myself, but I can explain (in brief form) as to why we have these somewhat ridiculous long times for our services.
First, we believe that as Christians serving God, we have the obligation to devote most (if not all) of our time in God : as were the practice of the the Israelites and the first-century Christians.
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

People tend to think that to spend more than two hours a day almost every week is inordinate. However, we believe otherwise, because for the people of God, there is no such thing as time limit when it comes to gatherings: especially since we are gathered not to tell stories or fables, and to have a testimony like what the other Christian groups are doing; but rather, to listen and understand the words of God to be edified in faith. The same is the admonition of Paul to the first-century Christians.

So, I laid out like our basic Biblical beliefs regarding both the gatherings, and its length. And we believe that in the gathering of the Christians, God will forgive the sins, and will heal them.

People in cult don't need much free time. And no use for a hobby either. Why would they need a hobby when all they want is the second coming of Jesus F. Christ and for the world to end. Except maybe for inc because their king Koopa(L) wants to collect more gold coins to build more castles. So he needs more time.
Wala. Puro pambahay lang hobbies mo dahil required ka umattend ng services ng Saturday and Sunday. Gusto mo mag roadtrip? Need mo pa siguruhin na may locale dun sa pupuntahan mo. Lalabas ka ng weekend and walang madadaluhang locale? Good luck dahil need mo magpaalam sa worker at need mo pa rin umattend ng make-up session ng Tuesday or Friday. Tapos yung Tuesday schedule sa umaga siya so need mo mag file pa ng leave.
So yes, I don't recommend it to anyone. And not just because of the time commitment, madami pang dahilan na di ko na rin lang ididisclose.
regular members are only required to attend Prayer Meetings (1-2hrs), Worship (1-2 hrs) and Thanksgiving (5-7 hrs) every week, then the 3day Special TG every quarter. not all are obligated to attend the others like Bible Expo, Debates or Bible Study, but if you want to attend it would be a good deed. Some members have obligations / duties like being a choir, officers, deacons.. but you have to volunteer / happy to do that before you can apply for those positions. I'm a member for 16 years. I have a 10hr Job every weekday and 2 kids. I can still attend without any challenge specially now since its just via online, and I can still do my hobbies (ex. wathching netflix?, do some DIYs at home) etc. you don't find time, you make time. just set your priorities
Di naman daw required ung Bible Study/Exposition na daily via Youtube/FB Live. Yung importante yung Prayer Meeting, Worship Service at Thanksgiving. All through Zoom and/or Youtube during this pandemic.
With that in mind, I'd like to take you back YEARS AGO. When Bro. Eli was still in the Philippines.
The congregation in the mid-2000s is already growing in number, in the Philippines, and in several Asian and American regions.
Back then, a Live Thanksgiving celebration (first held Sunday, then switched to Saturday) would start at 6:00 am PHT, and end at either 3:00 or 4:00 pm PHT.
Prayer Meetings were held on either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the local church's availability, and were done either by late afternoon (5:30 pm PHT).
Worship Services on the other hand were done almost immediately after the Live Thanksgiving celebration at around 4:30 pm PHT. Take note that both of them are almost about 1.5 to 2 hours in length.
The International Thanksgiving, which was first held twice a year, then switched to quarterly, is held for two days, Saturday and Sunday. It will begin at 6:00 am PHT, and will end all the way to either 10 pm PHT or 1:00 am PHT.
But because we have the program Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path: English) , Bible Expositions and Studies will be conducted every Tuesday, in whatever venue it will be held. It will start at around 6:30 pm PHT, and end at either 9:30 or 10:00 pm PHT. Not to mention Mass Indoctrinations, which begins at every start of the month, and lasts for an entire month. It's usually held for around 2 hours.
But ever since he left the Philippines in 2005, and the congregation is now ever-expanding across the globe: there has been a necessity to cut down the hours of large events, to give more time for the brethren to rest in the opposite part of the world.
And since then, Prayer Meetings, and Worship Services now have fixed schedule so that the brethren all over the world can choose depending on their availability: as to not be able to interfere with their working hours. You do not have to attend to all of the batches, but rather choose one of them to accommodate to your working hours.
Additionally, the International Thanksgiving celebrations became a quarterly, three-day event. This is to give to the foreign members to give thanks with their Filipino counterparts.
And so the batches of the schedules of gatherings went as follows:
(NOTE: Philippine Time, these are before the pandemic, but some of them still applies today)
formerly 6:00 am PHT; currently 5:00 pm PHT
Bible Exposition, Bible Studies, and Mass Indoctrinations are entirely different. These are programs to cater to the non-members of the Church, who might have an interest to listen to the teachings. Members invite them through various means, like leafletting, announcing through speakers, online invitations, etc. However, it is optional for a member to join and participate in these events.
Bro. Eli has always made sure that there will always be a room for the brethren to attend the gatherings, so that they will not miss out on any topic delivered. After all, if you are really of Christ, you will always find a way to attend the gatherings no matter what. And if you are not able to attend in the said batches for various circumstances, the ministry will always provide make-up schedules for them to catch up.
Let me reiterate: It is not a requirement for you to attend ALL of the gatherings, you can attend to the one batch depending on your availability, on every gathering.
- Prayer Meeting: If your work starts at 8:00 am (either Wednesday or Thursday), you can attend at 4:30 am, or at 9:30 or 11:30 pm.
- Worship Service: If you have no work available, you can attend at either 4:30 am, or 2:30 pm to be able to prepare for the Live Thanksgiving. Or you can jump on the Sunday schedule of 2:30 pm to be able to attend the Thanksgiving Viewing.
I know, I've been there, I tried and it didnt work for me. From my first job, I was able to excuse myself to go out earlier since I needed to attend their 2-3 hrs weekday church. It was great in the beginning, I was able to juggle some of my church attendance, work and some time with friends.
