Aneesa Qureshi is the new Muslim Indian student at Sherman Oaks High , whose confidence and radiance formerly posed an immediate threat to Devi , the two girls later become good friends. She is portrayed by Megan Suri .

Aneesa is an outgoing, intelligent, kind, and caring person who deeply cares about the ones close to her. Her kind and caring nature was seen when she was ready to go out of her way to keep Devi safe from being scolded from her mother. She has a confident and radiant personality which can attract anyone, from her peers to her teachers, as noted by Paxton who called Aneesa "dope."

She is also a confident and determined person, as seen by how she confronted and dealt her bullying at her former school and also her anorexia, along with how she had the courage to move on from her past towards a better future. However, she does deeply hate when people backstab her, as seen by how heartbroken she was when it turned out Devi was the one to start the rumor about her.

Aneesa is an Indian-American teenage girl with short, black, straight hair and brown eyes, being about 5'5" tall. She typically dresses in trendy, sporty clothing.

Aneesa became a part of the "cool girls" group, when she went into an all-girls private school, called Toluca Prep. The only thing that her so-called "friends" used to complement her on was being skinny, which made her feel as though she could never be skinny enough to fit in. She developed anorexia, and hence she had to go to a hospital for treatment. Eventually, everyone at her old school found out she was anorexic, and she had to leave the school because of the extreme levels of bullying she got, and she was transferred to Sherman Oaks High not being able to tolerate the bullying.

Well, as a Muslim, I could say that Aneesa's portrayal of Muslim girl was extremely unrealistic, and not only that, they made as dirty. I'll elaborate. As an average Muslim, living in an average non-pious Muslim country, not even a practicing one, I haven't seen ANY Muslim, who've done even remotely similar actions, which Aneesa did in this series. To bring some clarity, we Muslims have diametrically opposed view of life compared to liberals/atheists. We believe in an unseen, like God, angels, devils, and one of the most important things is that we believe in everything what our scriptures say, be it Quran, Torah, Gospel etc. For as, Muslims, freedom of speech doesn't exist, and if you see Muslim telling you that it does, then, well, either he's ignorant of his religion or straight up lies(which happens pretty often, unfortunately). The truth is, story about Sodom and Gomorrah in Quran is one of the most central ones: "Do you really lust after men instead of women? In fact, you are ˹only˺ a people acting ignorantly" An-Naml, 55 "And We poured upon them a rain ˹of brimstone˺. How evil was the rain of those who had been warned!" 27:58
Some Muslims would try to hide it, but that's what it is: homosexualism is considered one of the biggest sins in our religion, that's why no matter how non-practicing Muslim would be, you'd probably never meet a gay Muslim. That's why no matter how "woke" Aneesa's character is- we Muslims would still believe that it's a sin, cause believing in Quran is part of being a Muslim. Why I said they made as dirty - whenever they try to portray, according to our standards, an extremely sinful Muslim, non Muslims would then expect as to act just like "Aneesas" - being homosexual, dating and kissing guys, calling Harry Styles "god", which is, by the way, according to Quran, would get Muslim out of the fold of islam in an instant. And when, we, obviously, don't act as Aneesa, non-muslims then think that we're being "radical" or even "extremist", which leads me to the conclusion that directors of similar series, unintentionally trying to push their ideology (liberalism) onto Muslims, who have, as I stated earlier, completely different view of life and we're perfectly fine not being atheists/liberals.
There's another one where they didn't give as any favour showcasing a scene where Kamola was in some Hindu celebration, where she stroke up conversation with a women, who gave her advice not to get married cause she married to, as she specifically highlighted it, an abusive Muslim . Yikes...thanks, we're better off without any Muslim portrayals.
For those Muslims who're reading it and questioning, why am I stating that liberalism in Islam doesn't exist - here's the proof: (33:36) "It is not for a believing man or woman—when Allah and His Messenger decree a matter—to have any other choice in that matter ...". The same can be said about those who consider themselves Muslims, who say that they believe only in some things in Quran, but don't believe in other verses (like not believing that LGBT is haram): " Do you believe in some of the Scripture and reject the rest? Is there any reward for those who do so among you other than disgrace in this worldly life and being subjected to the harshest punishment on the Day of Judgment? For Allah is never unaware of what you do." The Cow, 85.
Lol, why am I being downvoted? For telling the truth?! Yup, people would make any excuses and do whatever to dodge the facts thrown at them. Mkay, you're just exemplifying what I said. Muslims either try to hide our attitude towards lgbt to cater the trending demand for being "woke" by downvoting it, or it's liberals who want to push their beliefs on as. And then they'll look you right in the eye and tell you that they're "accepting any religion". Hypocrisy keeps piling up, piling up, juxtaposed with excellent mental gymnastics performance, yikes.
Either way no matter how much you'll downvote it, what I said is such an evident truth, you can see it from space. Aneesa is an absolute not representation of 99.99% of Muslims, the strategy of making her behave like your typical atheist would inevitably provoke non-Muslims to say that any pious or even average Muslim is, in fact, radical for not being pro-gay, praying 5 times a day, dating, not labeling anyone "god" except for our God etc and that would give them an opportunity to hurl insults at as even more. I've already seen Muslims experiencing something similar due to another similar Muslim representation in a series. So then why should we be cool for them dragging as into their films under the pretense of "improving our representation", if it's in fact, just straight up propaganda against our religion?
There’s no way people are downvoting your comment

This review has spoilers for Never Have I Ever Season Three.
Never Have I Ever returns in season three with even more relationship drama for the Sherman Oaks High School teens. Devi finds herself with no less than three love interests: her nerdy frenemy Ben, the hot jock of her dreams Paxton and a new paramour aptly described as the combination of Ben and Paxton if they were also Indian. Her best friend Eleanor weighs dating Paxton’s stoner friend Trent, a convenient pairing introduced at the end of season two. Best of all, though, their mutual friend Fabiola gets to explore the breadth of her own romantic interests for the first time in the series.
Fabiola’s story opens with an abrupt announcement from her girlfriend Eve: her family is moving to Korea. Granted, the specifics of how this was handled feels more than a little racist in the same way a lot of season one’s attempts at humor badly missed the mark . But this is a very welcome change for Fabiola as a character. This pairing has never really made sense from the beginning of the series, beyond the simplistic logic of “obviously the two lesbians have to be into each other.”
Across the first two seasons, NHIE failed to convince me why Fabiola and Eve were together. They had no common interests and the entirety of season two was spent showing how Fabiola was repeatedly alienated by Eve’s friends for being a geek and out of touch with (white) queer culture. At the very end of season two, in what’s supposed to be a moving scene where Eve accepts Fabiola for all of who she is, including her nerdiness, Eve tells Fabiola she loves her because Fabiola is “the most beautiful person [she’s] ever met.” Clearly the writers couldn’t come up with a single justification for their relationship either, and they have finally decided to cut their losses.
After a brief period of trying to make a long-distance relationship work, Fabiola decides to end things with Eve because the strain of the sixteen-hour time difference starts affecting Fabiola’s grades. Surprisingly and fairly unrealistically, Fabiola never expresses any sadness about the end of her first queer romance which — if I’m following the time span of the series correctly— had lasted nearly a year. An unconvincing end for an unconvincing relationship.
This does leave Fabiola available to explore the wide world around her, though. Eve’s coterie doesn’t reappear in season three, and, instead, the show pursues a relationship that fans were clamoring for after season two.
But before we get there, we need to talk about the most recent addition to Devi’s friend group: Aneesa. Introduced as a transfer student in season two, Aneesa is a South Asian Muslim who eventually started dating Ben after Devi left him for Paxton. Season three starts by laying bare how badly matched this couple is. Aneesa can’t understand Ben’s relentless obsession with grades and “going to a good college,” and Ben devalues Aneesa’s passion for soccer. The nail in the coffin for their relationship, though, is the fact that Ben clearly isn’t over Devi a
