Android 14 Installation Guidelines for MI 8 Lite
HanBefore you install our Android 14 build on your MI 8 Lite a.k.a platina, please read these guidelines carefully. FYI, our build was tested before we shared it with anyone, and can be used as a daily driver ROM. So, please take some time to read this.
Using AOSP Recovery
Clean flash
- Install the AOSP custom recovery provided in the ROM post
- Reboot to recovery
- Wipe cache, data, system partitions
- Go to install the update
- Select install from sd card and select rom.zip or use adb sideload
- Flash gapps (optional, no need if ROM already has gapps)
- Reboot system
Update to the new version
- Reboot to recovery
- Go to install the update
- Select install from sd card and select rom.zip or use adb sideload
- Reboot system
Using Custom Recovery
Installation of Retrofit Dynamic Partitions ROMs:
- Flash TWRP 4.4 Dynamic recovery here
- Enter the newly flashed recovery
- Untoggle "Unmount System/vendor before installing a ZIP."
- Wipe system, vendor, cache & metadata partition
- Flash the ROM (Ignore system mount error)
- If Vanilla ROM (Reboot to recovery and then flash Gapps)
- Wipe data on Decrypted builds (Format data on Encrypted builds)
- Reboot and Enjoy (Ignore the "no os installed" warning)
Update to the new version
Take a backup of important data. AOSP is unpredictable
- Enter recovery
- Flash the update and Gapps (if vanilla build)
- Wipe dalvik and cache
- Reboot and Enjoy
Switch to another Retrofit Dynamic Partitions ROM:
- Enter recovery
- Flash the ROM and Gapps (if vanilla build)
- Wipe data on Decrypted builds (Format data on Encrypted builds)
- Reboot and Enjoy
Go back to the standard partition (non-dynamic) ROM:
- Install Standard recovery (non-dynamic)
- Enter the newly flashed recovery
- Wipe system & vendor partition
- Flash the ROM
- Factory Reset (Format data is recommended)
- Reboot and Enjoy
