Android 14 Installation Guidelines for MI 8 Lite

Before you install our Android 14 build on your MI 8 Lite a.k.a platina, please read these guidelines carefully. FYI, our build was tested before we shared it with anyone, and can be used as a daily driver ROM. So, please take some time to read this.

Using AOSP Recovery

Clean flash

  1. Install the AOSP custom recovery provided in the ROM post
  2. Reboot to recovery
  3. Wipe cache, data, system partitions
  4. Go to install the update
  5. Select install from sd card and select rom.zip or use adb sideload
  6. Flash gapps (optional, no need if ROM already has gapps)
  7. Reboot system

Update to the new version

  1. Reboot to recovery
  2. Go to install the update
  3. Select install from sd card and select rom.zip or use adb sideload
  4. Reboot system

Using Custom Recovery

Installation of Retrofit Dynamic Partitions ROMs:

  1. Flash TWRP 4.4 Dynamic recovery here
  2. Enter the newly flashed recovery
  3. Untoggle "Unmount System/vendor before installing a ZIP."
  4. Wipe system, vendor, cache & metadata partition
  5. Flash the ROM (Ignore system mount error)
  6. If Vanilla ROM (Reboot to recovery and then flash Gapps)
  7. Wipe data on Decrypted builds (Format data on Encrypted builds)
  8. Reboot and Enjoy (Ignore the "no os installed" warning)

Update to the new version 

Take a backup of important data. AOSP is unpredictable 

  1. Enter recovery
  2. Flash the update and Gapps (if vanilla build)
  3. Wipe dalvik and cache
  4. Reboot and Enjoy


Switch to another Retrofit Dynamic Partitions ROM:

  1. Enter recovery
  2. Flash the ROM and Gapps (if vanilla build)
  3. Wipe data on Decrypted builds (Format data on Encrypted builds)
  4. Reboot and Enjoy


Go back to the standard partition (non-dynamic) ROM:

  1. Install Standard recovery (non-dynamic)
  2. Enter the newly flashed recovery
  3. Wipe system & vendor partition
  4. Flash the ROM
  5. Factory Reset (Format data is recommended)
  6. Reboot and Enjoy
