Android 13 Installation Guidelines for MI 8 Lite
Han
Before you install our Android 13 build on your MI 8 Lite a.k.a platina, please read these guidelines carefully. FYI, our build was tested before we shared it with anyone and can be used as daily driver ROM. So, please take some time to read this.
First, check the md5sum or sha256sum of your downloaded file (you can search for how to do that) and make sure it's the same as the checksum on the download page. Also if you want your phone encrypted download the ROM files with "ForceEncryption" at the end of the file's name. Otherwise, if you want to stay decrypted, download the files without additional "ForceEncryption" in the file's name.
Second, make sure the ROM you are using now is encrypted or decrypted, you can check in Settings --> Security --> Encryption & Credentials, and see the message under "Encrypt phone" It says "Phone encrypted" or "Phone not encrypted"
Third, the custom recovery that we use to install test ROM is TWRP or OrangeFox recovery. Basically, you can use any recovery you want, but we recommend using the recovery we usually use.
Now, the steps for the installation.
If your phone is decrypted, the steps of installation are like this:
- Reboot to your custom recovery
- Wipe like you clean install (cache, dalvik, data, system, vendor)
- Install the latest firmware Global Stable V12.0.3.0.QDTMIXM (only once, if you have installed it before, skip this step)
- Install ROM zip
- Flash DFE, this or mirror (optional)(Notes: If you want to keep it encrypted you can skip this step)
- Flash Magisk (optional)
- Reboot system
If your phone is encrypted, the steps of installation are like this:
- Reboot to your custom recovery
- Wipe, choose format data, and type yes (it will wipe out all of your data in internal storage)
- Reboot recovery
- Wipe like you clean install (cache, dalvik, data, system, vendor)
- Install the latest firmware Global Stable V12.0.3.0.QDTMIXM
- Install ROM zip
- Flash DFE, this or mirror (Notes: If you want to keep it encrypted you can skip this step)
- Format data partition
- Flash Magisk (optional)
- Reboot system
If you have no luck to booted the ROM, try these steps:
- Fresh install your device to stock ROM using MiFlash (you can search by yourself how to do that)
- Install custom recovery again, then reboot to recovery, this is the guidelines
- Back to "If your phone is encrypted" steps above
If still no luck you can choose another ROM, maybe the ROM is not suitable for you. We apologize profusely.
