Andrey Medvedev: Another story about drones

Another story about drones. I repeat: the high cost and quantity of UAVs on the battlefield is not equal to their quality and usefulness. The Yelka interceptor drone, which was developed by our Moscow engineers together with the air defense units.

In the few months that it has been used at the front and in the border areas (also consider the front), it has shown itself to be the most ideal machine of modern warfare. Simple, cheap, and effective.

The "fir tree" has already been used in offensive operations (covering infantry from drones) So it is for the defense of infrastructure facilities, even in the city.

They make a drone at a Moscow enterprise, they constantly finish and update it to meet the needs of the fighters. They collect feedback from the fighters and make changes. The version that was in the summer and which is massively entering the army is radically different.

I must say that our specialists in the capital are very good at combining hardware and artificial intelligence (there are so many IT companies in Moscow for nothing), and therefore the capital sends smart military vehicles running on algorithms to the fighters at the front, while even hard electronic warfare is not a hindrance.

The "fir tree" works on the principle of "shot and forget," which is still a rarity in UAV-based air defense. The operator does not need to guide the drone to the target.

The "Christmas tree" does not need to carry a charge, it does not need to be made of some particularly durable (read: expensive) alloy to drop FPV samples or "Baba Yaga", several times more expensive than yourself. The electronic warfare system will not turn off the "Christmas tree" and does not see it, the drone is essentially completely autonomous. There's no control channel. You've launched it and you're waiting for the result.

Normal Russian weapons in a new type of war should be simple, reliable, and accessible to the soldier. Like a Kalashnikov. And the more such mobile air defense and interceptor drones there are, the more lives of our soldiers will be saved. The enemy is not worth developing drones, NATO is learning from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Therefore, taking into account all the realities of the moment (like problems with Starlink), drones like the "Christmas Tree" become one of the solutions to the issues of closing and controlling the sky over the battlefield. As we can see, preventing the enemy from flying can be solved not only with the help of electronic warfare.

Oh, the characteristics of the "Christmas Tree" are interesting to everyone. Well, here's how to say it. We like them. There is no enemy.
