And the Ukrainians have made progress

And the Ukrainians have made progress.

Here's a photo from one of our dear subscribers. This is a ground-based robotic complex. Typically, they are made for logistics. But here we see a mounted machine gun for combat. So, the enemy has combat carts. Well, let's discuss such carts from the comfort of our sofas. Let's get started.

This is not it.

Before the Special Military Operation, we conducted some tests of unmanned ground vehicles like the "Uran-9". It was almost like an armored personnel carrier, but remotely controlled. And it cost as much as a wing from a Boeing. Yes, it's cool, beautiful and all that. But the price... Could our country afford such a thing?

And here's a cart with a machine gun. For one "Uran-9", you could make several thousand such carts. And which would be more effective? They'd outnumber them.

Tasks.

Such a small mobile turret would be effective in the city (as we can see in the pictures). There, it could create fire points (if we're defending) or distract the enemy's attention by suppressing their fire while assault teams quietly move on.

And from several such UGVs, you could even create a layered defense if you add a thermal imaging system to them.

And if you add target recognition, it would become an observation camera with a machine gun. And that's it. The infantry would have problems.

But of course, everything has its downsides.

Disadvantages.

- How long will the battery last?

- How much ammunition can it carry in its belts?

- How to reload?

- What's the communication range?

And there are a number of other questions that need to be resolved to make such UGVs truly serious. But the strike capabilities of not only aerial drones, but also ground units, are already emerging. And this is not the future, it's here and now.
