Female here. I love anal play. Definitely a different feeling than vaginal sex. It's a lot easier to get that "filled up" feeling, especially if the guy has a smaller penis. It tends to take a couple of tries before it starts to feel really good. Very hard to explain, but basically, it's just a really smooth, soft, warm feeling as the penis thrusts in and out. We have a female prostate that it stimulates as well as it stretching out our perineum, which feels fucking amazing. Plus you or your partner can then reach around and either stimulate your clit or insert a sex toy into your vagina so you can stimulate your g-spot and get double penetration. By far my strongest orgasms occur when I have a penis up my ass, a toy in my vagina and my clit being stimulated. Every genital-based erogenous zone is being stimulated and it's pure ecstasy.
[F]emale, anal is great, i don't have it frequently but i find it very intense. I can orgasm from it no problem. I prefer Vaginal because i can let go, i feel like you are always maintaining at least some level of caution with anal, where as with vaginal sex it can be very rough, and i don't worry about getting hurt.
Vaginal sex is mostly about pressure on the lower part of my penis, but anal sex is pressure all along it, with it being very tight at the base. It does feel different.

Male here. I personally find anal and vaginal to be very similar in terms of direct feelings on my penis. Though, with that said, I find all sorts of sexual acts to be "similar" whether it be handjob, blowjob, anal, or vaginal. I think what makes it great for me is the different smells (none bad as far as I am concerned), the different/altered body chemicals that come from the slightly different forms of arousal, the look on my girlfriends face during different acts. With anal, there is also more of a "dominating" feature that comes with it that is inherently sexy when a woman "lets go" and I am able to move in.
There was a time when anal was more taboo, but as far as I am concerned it is just another healthy facet of a sexual relationship. I love my girlfriend, and I love all of her orifices (haha). It's not like everything in life is just about penis-vagina/ass though, so various things like performing oral sex on her (in both areas) is also stimulating. I just enjoy her body and like making her feel good. So, physically, these things may not feel very different; but mentally I think is where the real difference lies.
As a note, the receiving partner will likely feel more "difference" as the build of the ass vs. the vagina is inherently different. It's not bad by any means. I've asked my girlfriend and she describes it as "pressure" and she says it feels good.

I like anal, but it takes a while to get past the "I feel like I need to poop" feeling. You also need to try to relax a little so you can enjoy the good feelings versus the "poop" ones.
