I'm not exactly sure how the mechanics of this tug-'o-war is designed, but if it was a single, double-sided toy, then changing the angle of your colon relative to the long axis of the toy is going to cause the toy to bear more forcefully against your colon and increase the friction, giving you an additional advantage compared to keeping yourself in alignment with the long axis of the toy, where only your sphincter muscles are in play.
