Ana de Armas Set to Star in New Psychological Thriller 'The Watcher'

Los Angeles, May 11, 2025 – Acclaimed actress Ana de Armas has been cast as the lead in the upcoming psychological thriller The Watcher, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker David Fincher. The film, based on the bestselling novel of the same name, will begin production later this year, with Netflix securing distribution rights.

De Armas, known for her captivating performances in Blonde, Knives Out, and No Time to Die, will play a woman who begins to suspect that her new home is being watched by a sinister presence. The role marks her return to the thriller genre, following her breakout role in The Night Clerk (2020).

'I'm thrilled to be working with David Fincher, a director I've admired for years,' de Armas said in a statement. 'The Watcher is a gripping story, and I can't wait to bring this character to life.'

Fincher, who previously directed Gone Girl and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, praised de Armas’ versatility, calling her 'one of the most compelling actors of her generation.'

The film is set for a late 2026 release. Meanwhile, de Armas is also attached to produce and star in an upcoming biopic about Cuban singer Celia Cruz.
