Winter skin problems.

The cold and dry winter months are upon us and threaten the health of your skin. As the temperature drops, the amount of sebum protecting the skin decreases, so it is important to moisturize the skin in winter

It is therefore important to moisturize the skin during the winter months. Natural oil products that fill the skin with moisture and reduce irritation are therefore attracting attention.

Here are some tips by dermatologist in Mumbai that who can you take care of your skin in winter.

How to prevent dry skin:-

To prevent dry skin, it is important to minimize the loss of moisture from the stratum cornea. It is best to reduce the time and frequency of baths and showers as much as possible. If you shower every day, it is best to do so for 15 minutes or less. Water is supplied directly to the skin through baths and showers, but if it is not continuously maintained, it washes away the natural moisturizing factors, lipids and sebum in the stratum cornea and dries out the skin. It is also not conducive to pushing dirt and forcibly exfoliating the stratum cornea. It is best to bathe in lukewarm water, as hot water can take away moisture from the skin. Also, your skin is sensitive, so use gentle cleansing products and avoid over-cleansing and the use of soap. When wiping the water with a towel after bathing, do so gently and without rubbing. It is best to apply moisturizer immediately after bathing. Use a moisturizer regularly to prevent dry skin.

Maintain the room temperature:

Keep the room temperature at 18-20 degrees and use a humidifier to bring the room humidity to an appropriate level of 40-60%. If you don't have a humidifier, it helps to hang wet clothes indoors or keep a wet towel in the room. Due to COVID-19, frequent use of hand sanitizer makes the skin even drier. Frequent use of hand sanitizers or strong hand sanitizers can worsen the condition of the skin by damaging the lipid layer of the epidermis and stratum cornea. Sanitizers with too high an ethanol concentration can over-irritate the skin, so products with a concentration of 60% to 80% are more appropriate. If you use a hand sanitizer, be sure to apply a moisturizer at the same time.

Water to the rescue: -

Drinking plenty of water is also good for your skin health. Water prevents skin irritation and acne, and hydrates dry skin. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking small amounts of water regularly, rather than drinking a lot at once.

1. Apply lip balm.

Choose a lip balm that feels good on your lips. If your lips sting or tingle after you apply lip balm, change it to one that does not cause this reaction.

2-Use sunscreen:-

As well as moisturizer, remember to use sunscreen in both winter and summer. The sun is sneaky and UV reflections off the snow can increase UV exposure. Broad-spectrum sunscreens are best. Physical blockers, such as zinc oxide or titanium oxide, are usually best at filtering out the most harmful UV rays.

Conclusions

Cold weather can really take a toll on your skin. Many people experience dry, cracked or even bleeding skin during the winter months. However, if you take the necessary and adequate measures, you can save your skin from the effects of dryness.
