As the virtual conference begins, write up directions to all members that they need to grab three items from around their room that match three particular criteria. Here’s some possible conditions you could use, but feel free to create your own!

…you received as a gift, and tell us about the person who gave it to you.

…sparks joy.

…has the funniest story behind it.

…comes from the furthest away.

…isn’t yours, and tell us why you have it.

…is the rarest.

…you’ve had for the longest.

…is the most unexpected or out of place.

…you think everyone should have, but doesn’t.”

Once all participants have entered and had a chance to scavenge the items, start the conference with a round of introductions. As well as providing their name, job title, and whatever other usual pieces of information you ask for, ask each participant to introduce the objects they’ve found as well, and why it fulfils the condition you gave above. You’ll get to listen to some amazing tales that will give a far better insight into each person’s character than the standard bland virtual event entertainment options!
