BURBANK, Calif. (CBS/AP) Amy Beck, a teacher at David Starr Jordan Middle School, surrendered to the Burbank Police Department on Monday for allegedly having sex with one of her students. The sexual encounters allegedly occurred over a period of several months.
The 33-year-old English and social science teacher was booked on suspicion of lewd or lascivious acts with a child of 14 or 15 years and was held on $400,000 bail, Burbank police Sgt. Robert Quesada said to CBS affiliate KCAL.
Police interviewed the boy "and confirmed that the acts did occur" between March and September of 2009.
Burbank police spokesman Keith Sterling told The Associated Press the boy was 14 at the time.
Beck is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on four counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16, and one count of oral copulation with a person under 16, according to Contra Costa Times.
Prosecutors say the married mother of three faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of all charges.

NEW YORK (CBS) The husband of Amy Beck, a 33-year-old former Burbank, Calif. middle school teacher who admitted having sex and oral sex with a 14-year-old student, threatened the student's life, according to a lawsuit filed by the student's family.
According to the818now.com, the lawsuit filed Tuesday against teacher's husband, LAPD officer National Beck, claims he threatened to murder the teen and the boy's family. The threat allegedly occurred when Beck walked in on his wife and the boy in his home.
Amy Beck pleaded no contest in March to unlawful sexual intercourse and committing a lewd act on a child.
Burbank Superior Court Judge Patrick Hegarty ordered the former David Starr Jordan Middle School teacher to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
Amy Beck, a married mother of three, surprised authorities when she walked into a police station in March and confessed to having an affair with one of her former students.
Beck said the relationship, which ended in Dec. 2009, had left her consumed with guilt.

Beck, who taught English and social studies, was popular with students, parents and fellow teachers, said Gabe Soumakian, assistant superintendent for the Burbank Unified School District.
