Anyone Starting Notice That There's WAY TOO MANY AMWF Couples Involving Korean Guys on the Internet?

While AMWF stands for relationships between Asian men and white women we are absolutely not exclusive to AMWF couples! This is an open and welcoming community. If you type in "AMWF" on one of the many popular sites like Instagram or Youtube, all you're going to get most of the time is Korean dudes with White girls. You'd be lucky enough to even find a few Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, or some other Asian guy in an AMWF relationship among this vast sea of Korean AMWF couples. I see Just as many AMWF couples from many other Asian groups in real life, You would think this would be reflected on social media, but for some reason, Korean AMWF couples seem to dominate the AMWF online scene. I wonder why that is?
I know some of you are going to bring up the K-Pop effect and how it has this positive rippling effect on how Asian men are perceived in the world, though I only partly agree with this premise since K-Pop probably benefits Korean men most of the time, which would make sense. A White girl, for example, who becomes immersed in K-Pop and Korean culture is probably going to become attracted solely to Korean guys. She may develop a deeper appreciation for Asian culture and be more open to dating Asian guys in general, but chances are, she's more inclined to have a preference for Korean guys because of the images, music, and people she's exposed to.
This without a doubt could partially explain why Korean guys are doing so well with AMWF relationships. Another explanation on why there's there's so many Korean AMWF couples on the internet could be due to the fact that there's some kind of domino effect happening among Korean AMWF couples in which a Korean AMWF couple sees another Korean AMWF couple on Youtube or Instagram and they become inspired and influenced to create their own account as a result. This eventually leads to more Korean AMWF couples sprouting up all over the internet in disproportionate numbers.
But in any case, I hope I don't sound like I"m complaining or coming off as being divisive with this post. I'm glad Asian men as a whole are breaking free from all these stereotypes and social boundaries imposed on us for centuries by the sometimes racist West. AMWF is just going to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming decades with the rise of Asia as an influential sphere of power.
I just wish there were more AMWF couples being represented on the internet and in the media that doesn't always involve a Korean guy. I hate to see a future scenario where some kind of ethnic infighting develops between different AMWF couples in which, for example, Korean AMWF couples think they're better than Chinese AMWF couples or that East Asian AMWF couples are better than South East Asian AMWF couples and so on. That's something no one wants to happen!
Usually due to that it's mostly Chinese and Korean people who are expats it's also more likely that they are more seen in AMWF scenes. Just like the WFs tend to be Russian or English; those are the ones who travel to Asia. Don't think there's anything else to it.
Right. Where I live, the majority of Asians in the area are Korean and Chinese. I've met a few Taiwainese, Vietnamese and some Filipino, but Korean and Chinese are the majority. Chinese count for a lot of the International students and there's a KIA and Hyundai Plant nearby where a lot of Koreans come for work. Or if they are in the military, some come over for training at the nearby Army base.
And I agree with the WF usually being of an European country or Russian. It's rare to find an AM x American WF couple online.
WF married to a Taiwanese guy. I stopped using the AMWF hashtag on Instagram because I got lots of comments either calling me fat or my husband ugly. We exist, but I also don’t need people stealing my wedding photos for tumblr (which has happened) or creepy messages on FB asking about out sex life.
I've noticed that being plus sized is slightly frowned upon in the AMWF community, sadly. I'm chubby myself, and feel often a little unwanted in the community.
Was the comments from WMAF couples? Most of the harassment online comes from WMAFs. ET had a video exposing a sexpat who was living in Thailand with a Thai wife who was harassing an IMWF couple.
WF with a Japanese guy. We aren't "Instagram ready"...just an average couple living an amazing life. If I posted our photo we would look incredibly unremarkable. I don't think people would be interested in watching us on YouTube eating curry or yelling at whatever video game we are playing.
I have mostly been with Vietnamese or Chinese men when dating, but I have never tried to make it about us being AMWF. I have posted pictures before on social media but never wanted to tag them or make it more about our race than about our overall relationship.
Perhaps AMWF couples with Korean men are more inclined to post photos and tag them?
No, I haven’t noticed, but I’m not surprised if it’s true. K-pop fans have a huge internet and social media presence. It only makes sense that when a koraeboo finally bags herself an actual Korean guy that she would start broadcasting her relationship for everyone to see.
People who start YouTube channels and Instagram pages featuring their relationship... are mostly WF in Korea and Japan. Media does not always reflect real life.

My boyfriend is korean, I’m russian, for some reason our pairing is pretty common. I have never listened to k-pop (intentionally anyways) and I’m not in to k-dramas. I don’t think he’s particularly into Russian culture lol. We were just neighbors growing up and fell in love
You're saying you don't want to be divisive yet your post title uses pretty aggressive language and caps lock. I don't think there's any risk of "ethnic infighting" as long as people like OP don't foster it by publicly resenting Korean AMWF couples and their youtube channels or whatever. I'm just happy these couples are happy! Hope others can see it that way too.

I’ve noticed this too online. However I rarely see AMWF in real life so I can’t compare with that. I wouldn’t say other Asian guys don’t benefit from the “K-pop effect”. I’m Filipino and my current girlfriend likes K-pop and so did my ex. It could be a coincidence but I doubt it. There is no way I just happened to do better with white girls after the explosion of K-pop. Therefore I don’t see this as a bad thing.
I'm a WF married to a Mongolian, though we live in Korea. I don't think I've ever labeled or described us as an AMWF couple, except obviously in this subreddit. We are more than our ethniciy, and we rarly even think about the fact that he is Asian and I'm white. I do see a lot of AMWF couples here though, many are koreaboos.
I think this is totally a social media trend and doesn’t reflect real life. Of all the AMWF couples I know 90% of the time the man is Chinese. I know a few couples where the guy is Japanese. Oddly the only Koreans I’m acquainted with are married to other Koreans 🤷‍♀️.

There are a good number of Korean AM/WF couples on YouTube and Instagram and I think it's a great thing.
I'm not Korean myself and I think Korean guys are good looking - I find natural Korean/Asian shaped eyes attractive.
I think they are a very good representation for AM/WF couples.

Yeah I've noticed it's maybe more common, but I would never say "WAY TOO MANY."

I'm a white woman in a long term relationship w/ my Chinese BF, and personally don't have a preference for Asian people or even a specific type of Asian. If you're hot, you're hot.
I also am pretty turned off by people who specifically seek to date someone just because of their race, whether it's hunting a Korean guys or Scandinavian women or whatever bs people are up to. Basically, I strongly disagree with you, and think people should date whoever they want to, and we should respect that (while also having a healthy wariness of people who are fetishising race)
I got into kpop like 9 years ago and speak very good Korean but my boyfriend is from China.... lol Actually, small-scale, every AMWF couple I personally know, 5 or so, has a Chinese(-American) guy. (Including all the girls in K-Pop dance club)
