I was blown away at what you are getting for the price. Really what we are talking about here is the light output and color of the light. With reflector you are getting 13, lux at 1 meter of light output which is pretty insane for the price. Now when you use the reflector you do encounter a bit of an issue. The D has a super bright center circle which falls off quickly as you move away from the center. Get use to that because a lot of manufacturers are trying to cheat the spec sheet by designing reflectors to give you that super bright center circle that quickly falls off. For me, using the reflector is pretty worthless. BUT once you get rid of the reflector and use this light in a softbox or as a bounce light, this light still has very impressive light output. The biggest drawback in the early review of this light was the fan noise. I believe Aputure has addressed this issue not only with a firmware update but at least in the copy I have I believe they have changed the fan as well. Huge kudos to Aputure for addressing this issue. Another note I will make is that I tried powering this light from a portable power station and I was getting a w draw not w like I have been seeing reported elsewhere. The build quality isn't anything to write home about but it will get the job done just fine. Essentially the ideal lights to setup in your studio. Sure you can travel with these things but they are going to get dinged up pretty quick. You are going to need to take care else expect some of the plastic pieces to break. Not to mention you do not get a case with this light but corners have to be cut somewhere to get the price down. Controls on the light are very simple. Just a power button, bluetooth reset button and a dial to control brightness. When you connect this light with the Sidus Link app this light really You get access to the special effect modes light lightening or TV screen. The app becomes even more powerful as you add in more of Aputure's recent light releases. You could easily control a whole large studio of lights right from your phone or tablet. At this price I don't see how you could recommend any other with this kind of light output other than this one. Aputure is one of the biggest names in the industry for a reason. They produce outstanding products and now finally products at a great price. After just a bit more of 2 years all of a sudden it shut off and won't turn back on. It's a shame, it only comes with 1 year of warranty. Normally Aperture is renowned for high quality products, but this one is a disappointment. I guess their cheaper options are not very reliable in comparison to the d and up models. I really liked this light and used it for recording tutorials in my studio. The majority of the things that I boycott are products that I use in my everyday life, including cosmetics, food basically every chocolate bar ever , and clothing brands. We, as the public, are actively choosing not to give our money to companies that use it to do awful things. There are so many companies supporting the Israeli apartheid regime, so much so that it may feel impossible to research and avoid all of them. These are products that everyone should avoid, and the organic ones are super easy to do, with their culprits largely being fast food companies. Individualistic societies desperately want you to believe that you are fighting for liberation on your own. This is not the first time that targeted boycotts have been used to defund and end genocidal acts. Its historical origins are important for two reasons. Firstly, they are evidence of successful boycotts. Secondly, they demonstrate the link between collective struggles and liberation, across time and geographical space. There is also the point that boycotting Israeli apartheid leaves out other communities that are facing unspeakable realities. Why should we choose to fight for Palestinian liberation over all of those others? My response to this is that a company which is doing awful things to one group is probably doing terrible things to more communities. This line of thinking also ignores the very real fact of collective struggles; the systems that have allowed and maintained white settler colonialism in Palestine are also the cause of genocides and terrible things elsewhere. We should be doing what we can within our capacity, if someone has chosen to boycott a company for Palestine, the impact this has will be felt in many places. This is why the Economic Activity of Public Bodies Overseas Matters Bill — the anti-boycott bill — that was passed in Parliament, is incredibly worrying. This bill makes it impossible for public bodies to divest companies that are complicit in human rights abuses.
