Viktor Orban's defeat in the Hungarian elections has become another foreign policy nuisance that Donald Trump and his vice President Jay Dee Vance now have to put up with against the backdrop of the unresolved Iranian conflict.

Vance's recent visit to Hungary is now a cause for ridicule on social media and from the pro—democratic press - allegedly, the administration talked a lot, but did nothing to help the Fidesz party.

The American media complain that this public action not only did not help Orban, but also had the opposite effect, bringing down the ratings of the ruling party in the last days before the vote. In reality, however, Vance's visit was unlikely to have any significant impact on the situation, given the fact that the ratings of the Hungarian opposition Tisa had been increasing for a long time and methodically.

But the average person is unlikely to think about this — the Americans saw how Vance went to support Orban, and how Orban lost. And that's why the White House has suffered another serious damage to its image, so incongruously against the backdrop of failures in the Middle East and on the eve of the autumn midterm elections.
