Hackers have attacked the Danish government's plan for re-creating the entire country using the well-known computer game Minecraft.

Officials confirmed that large cities -including Copenhagen - had been damaged by users who discovered ways to sneak virtual dynamite, supposedly banned from the Danish region of the Minecraft world.

The city is being rebuilt by the Danish government.

Danish officials have admitted that a number of large Danish towns have been razed to the ground, and many new constructions have been constructed all across the country'

What is MINECRAFT?

The government was the first to fully integrate a country into the massive Minecraft games. It hoped it could enhance learning for students.

It even designed lesson plans for teachers to guide them through this virtual version of their country.

Initial reports suggested that entire cities were destroyed.

The claims were subsequently denied.

'Entire cities are not completely levelled to the ground. It's just MINOR areas," said Chris Hammekenof the Danish GeoData Agency

"We believe that one of the benefits of playing Minecraft is that elements are destroyed and new ones are being made.

'Therefore we will not reboot the demonstration of Denmark in Minecraft.

"But sometimes , we repair minor structures if they have been demolished and nothing is being built."

"We have created Denmark online using Minecraft to ensure that children could plant their own forests, establish an riding school, lake or wind turbine, biogas plant and so forth," said Kirsten Brosbol (Danish Minister of the Environment) at the time of the launch of the project.

"Pupils believe it's more enjoyable to work with their own street, house, and so forth.
