The Truth About Megan Batoon From World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals
By Mike Bedard / Updated: May 25, 2022 1:46 pm EDT
Are you in the mood for going on a vacation like no other while you spend your nights sleeping in something that offers more flair than a Motel 6? If you answered "Yes," to that question, you need to pay attention to one of the most anticipated Netflix reality series to debut in 2021 — "World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals." The first season offers a glimpse of the kinds of places you can visit, and it's all brought to you by a trio of fun, personable hosts.
One of the people taking you through the international journey is Megan Batoon. Along with Luis D. Ortiz and Jo Franco, she tracks down some of the most luxurious rentals worldwide. Some of them even work for a budget price, so you can have a one-of-a-kind adventure without breaking the bank. Batoon is a suitable host, seeing how she knows how to have a good time, as evidenced from her past. Here's everything you need to know about the media personality that may not receive a mention in her new series.
Megan Batoon has worn numerous hats over the years, but her career in the entertainment industry is all due to her passion for dancing at the end of the day. She's practiced dancing for quite a long time, and when she initially uploaded videos to YouTube, it was to showcase her talent. Batoon made content for choreography she developed herself, and it allowed her to develop a sizable following over the years.
In an interview with Tubefilter , Batoon spoke about how dancing set her on the path she's still on: "I had initially used YouTube as a place to keep footage of dance classes. Once I moved out to Los Angeles and became friends with some other creators in the space (D-Trix and Ryan Higa ), I was compelled to make content that wasn't just dance-centric, and started putting my personality online." In the beginning, Batoon's videos were lucky to break 100,000 views, but now, she regularly receives millions of eyeballs checking in to see what she's up to next.
You only get one chance to make an excellent first impression, and that's a lesson Megan Batoon learned the hard way. She wasn't happy with putting something subpar for the world to see, and she spoke with Business Insider about the grueling process of ensuring her first sketch was just right. As she put it, "I didn't post my first video for three weeks after I filmed it. I edited it every day until I thought it was good enough." The video in question was titled "Shark Week themed cooking video," and little did she know it would go on to lead her into co-hosting her own Netflix series.
It's easy to assume someone like Batoon was an overnight sensation when in actuality, she worked hard to hone her craft, especially seeing how she dipped her toes into several different YouTube niches. Most creators stick with one category, like "cooking" or "vlogging." Batoon stretches her legs and posts both dancing and comedic videos, sometimes simultaneously. It was a move that ultimately paid off, and now, she gets hundreds of thousands of views on each video she posts.
Megan Batoon's career took off when she moved from her home in Florida to Los Angeles. After this move, she began uploaded videos to YouTube, but that wasn't the only place fans could find her. She soon started appearing in various films and TV series, with her first acting credit coming from her playing a dancer in " Step Up Revolution ." Her other credits include "Anthony Ma Presents ...," "Date-a-Max," and "Everything Before Us."
Batoon likes to keep busy, so she hasn't acted too often over the last few years, but naturally, you can still see her pop up on your screen when you tune in to Netflix's "World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals." It's safe to say she's not acting when she travels everywhere from Alaska to the Caribbean and remains amazed at all of the beautiful places to stay while visiting. Hopefully, the reality series raises her profile even further, and she continues showing off her dance moves in a litany of projects to come.
Between her YouTube channel, film appearances, and new Netflix series, Megan Batoon has been incredibly busy over the last decade. As if that wasn't enough, she also started a podcast, " Just a Tip with Megan Batoon ," where she meets up with other dancers and media personalities to talk about the industry and their tips for making it through this crazy ride called "life." She releases new episodes bi-weekly, and some of the subjects you can expect to come up include finding romance, following your passion, and getting in touch with your spiritual side.
Batoon met up with the hosts of Windy City LIVE to talk about her latest endeavor. While it was one more pot to put on the stove, the content creator wouldn't have had it any other way: "You get to just like talk to people, and that's all we want. We want connection. We want to laugh. We want to be with each other." She continues releasing new episodes, which you can find anywhere podcasts are available.
From all of this, it's clear Megan Batoon is a woman of many talents. However, she also holds a unique distinction in the legacy of YouTube-based ad campaigns. Specifically, she's the first content creator to land an endorsement deal with Nike (via Tubefilter ). She partnered with the shoe manufacturer in 2017 to promote its new line of Nike Air VaporMax. As a dancer, it makes sense she'd need a solid pair of shoes to keep her comfortable while performing. Batoon also ran a half-marathon in the promotion of the footwear.
In an interview with Mediakix, she spoke about the journey from making little videos on YouTube to landing sponsorship deals: "I learned that being loyal and staying true to who you are will always result in long-lasting and genuine partnerships." With all of these opportunities, Batoon's next endeavor could be something we don't see coming, and we'd be ecstatic about that.
