I want to establish a procedure for boring the best quality holes possible, now and in the future! Here is a picture of the setup, the 2 bores should be pretty obvious.
Boring is one of the precision machining methods for holes and is widely applied in manufacturing. For smaller holes, compared to internal cylindrical grinding and fine boring, reaming is a more economical and practical method.
This generates frictional heat which can seize and break the drill. When a drawing calls for deep hole drilling a precision machine shop will typically use a specialized process called "gun drilling."
