Half a year after their relationship was confirmed, Amanda and Thomas got engaged on her farm in Stone Ridge, New York. The news broke in September 2016 after the Mamma Mia! star was spotted wearing a slim gold band on her left ring finger while walking her dog, Finn, in New York City. 
“It was a quiet moment,” Amanda told of her engagement for the magazine’s February 2017 cover story. “I’m not very romantic: I’m quite practical.” She added that her engagement ring doesn’t even include a gemstone. “I’ve been buying diamonds for years for myself and the last thing I wanted was for a man to buy me another diamond,” Amanda explained. Instead, she purchased her from a vintage jeweler in Portland, Oregon.
