Alternative to Chromecast

Works on MicroG?

Doesn't seem to be working. Even though some applications can make the projection work.

Using MicroG you can Cast as long as you get apps using Cast v1 (API). But most devs are using Cast v2, so you can't use MicroG with most apps (maybe old versions are a solution).

It seems that Google has disabled support for Miracast in the AOSP (Updated versions), implementing it only on Gapps.

Seems to be the only way to broadcast YouTube videos to a TV Box or Android TV. Kore aims to be a simple, easy to use and beautiful remote that lets you control your Kodi. Kodi is a free and open source cross-platform software media player and entertainment hub for digital media.

Emby Server

You can create an Emby server and through an Emby player in your Smart TV or Tv Box play your content.

Ftp Server - File Manager

You can create an FTP server on your device, and install a file manager on your Android TV or TV Box by connecting it to the FTP server.

Web Video Caster Mod

It may not all work, but it is the most complete alternative, even if not open source. Carefully follow the configuration guides in the app, ignore errors for google play services.

Web Video Caster allows you to watch on your TV videos from your favorite websites including movies, TV shows, live streams of news, sports, and IPTV. It also lets you cast local videos stored on your phone. Photos and audio files are also supported. Subtitles are detected on the web page, you can also use your own subtitles, or you can use the integrated search of OpenSubtitles.org.
