Great movie about one of the greatest voices of the last century, and the voice of his generation the iconic Tupac Shakur who left this earth in Sep 1996. I'm sure he's happy with what they did here as the movie showed his life as best as possible without ever really crossing the line in anyway in any biased direction. I don't get some of the backlash it got as a fan of Tupac since he rose up thru the concrete to super stardom in Juice, and for his music with Digital Underground, and than his solo career which lasted a short but prolific period. They had only so much time to tell his life story and in the time they had they did a fine job in my honest opinion, and to be real his life was so complex I was blown away they captured as much of it here in this movie. His life was a movie which would make for a hell of a long standing movie series or show if you want to tell the entire tale. But for now this movie will do fine, and the acting, directing, and editing was as flawless as could be. The actor picked with the impossible task of recreating Tupac did for his first movie ever a remarkable job, and after a few minutes it's like you're looking at Tupac himself. Actor Demetrius Shipp Jr. who's father ironically enough produced for Tupac for his "All eyez on me" double cd was someone I was skeptical on early on since he had no acting in his background, and his online videos which leaked of his audition were less than convincing really like I said he was great. The man stepped it up, and he got Pac down from look to expression to body language... It was again like having Tupac back in live action on film. I welcome his next movie, and will be keeping an eye on his career as it should be a great one. Oh , and having Money B from Digital Underground along with The Outlawz involved in both the movies production and playing themselves in the movie was both epic & awesome. The entire cast again did a great job... Special stand out in the cast other than Shipp Jr was Dominic L. Santana who played Death Row record owner Suge Knight he was big, imposing, and every bit as suave as the real man himself. Great job all around I thought, and this made my top 3 list of movies of the year. THUG LIFE, Outlawz 4 life!

I have to admit, “back in the day” the only thing I knew about Tupac was what I saw on the news and in the tabloids. While others – perhaps diehard fans – have dismissed this movie, I found it to be a good introduction and motivated me to dig deeper into his career and personal life. I didn’t realize his parents were so politically involved, nor did I know Tupac attended a fines arts high school, and later made several respectable films. He was obviously a bright and talented person. Yes, he came across as controversial, but maybe it was more for how he said things, and not what he said. In other words, some of his valid messages may have gotten lost on the messenger. As for the film, I thought Demetrius Shipp did a good job. His resemblance to Tupac is uncanny and there were a few times I had to remind myself that I was watching Shipp, not Tupac. For me, the movie helped shed light on many events in his short life. Particularly revealing – how accurate, I don’t know – were the scenes with his parents. His upbringing sheds light on why Tupac become the person he was. The portrayal of East and West coast rap stars of the day seemed well thought out and well cast. For example, the actor cast as Suge Knight was a good call (imagine a bio-pic about Suge!). Tupac seemed to be one of those whose light burned brighter and faster than most. Like a comet, it lights up the sky for a brief time and then is gone. In his short life, he saw many things and did many things. Diehard Tupac fans might know all the deficiencies of this movie, but for those who want an introduction to the man and his motives, this is a good place to start. It certainly opened my eyez!

This movie is based on the life of by far one of the Greatest, Most Talented, and Prolific Lyrical Rap Artist Ever, even to this present day in time, Tupac Shakur, aka: 2pac, aka: Makaveli!!! Although not 100% accurate, is definitely worth the time and/or money, to watch it!!! It actually gives a little more insight to the earlier life of Tupac as a child growing up in a time when this country and world were very much more opened about their racially driven hate and treatment of others. But much like his mother Tupac was whole heartedly set in his mind to do something about it and to start a new movement to break down those barriers and try to help others like he and his family!! He done so by becoming a Rap Superstar and a Legendary Public Figure by telling stories of the mistreated and disrespected minorities through the Lyrics in his music most of the time!!! "MUCH LOVE, RESPECT, & THANKS" to Tupac Shakur!!!! RIP 2Pac

This was a good depiction of 2pac's life. Some of his actual words outside of his lyrics were used, such as things that he said in interviews. Some have complained about scene to scene not flowing that well, but I feel that the rather short life of a Legend was depicted quite well in this movie. Definitely was worth buying.

John Singleton was originally supposed to direct the film, but the studio and Singleton couldn't agree on how Tupac was to be portrayed in the film. Singleton eventually left the project completely but has since stated that he still hoped to make his own film about Tupac on his own terms some day. He was also the only director to have been given Afeni Shakur 's full blessing to tell her son's story. Afeni Shakur Davis died on 2 May 2016, aged 69 from a heart attack, thirteen months before the release of the film. Singleton died on 28 April 2019, meaning he never got his wish to make another film about the life of Tupac Shakur.
Tupac Shakur uses an iPhone 7, which came to market about 20 years after he died.

The hype about this movie was unreal. Things like "We will make Biigie's movie look like a cartoon" were flying around everywhere.... What a colossal disappointment. To have the life of such a person and character like Tupac and mess it up this bad, takes a special kind of bad. I thought that a small scale studio would have done a better job in exploring some unknown past but instead it focused on all the mainstream points of his life trying to shove a song anywhere they could. The whole movie had zero flow, nothing seems to connect to the previous or future scene. It just feels like a mash-up documentary that someone made on Youtube and threw in a few Tupac songs. The point of the movie was to make people discover and appreciate the personality, vision and spirit of Tupac. To show that he was a visionary and more than just another "rapper" from the block who cares about money, ice and women. Tupac was like shown as someone who is only hungry for glory and needs to settle some score instead of reaching out to people and connecting with them through music. I can't really find one good thing about the movie except the Tupac's mom who only felt like a real person. The rest of the cast is flat out trash with no previous experience acting anywhere. If you are a fan of Tupac, avoid this garbage at all costs...
