In the center, a pool of water, impossibly clear, reflected a sky that was a shade of twilight she’d never witnessed. As she leaned closer, a ripple disturbed the surface, not from a falling leaf, but from beneath. A single, silver eye blinked open, then another, and another. From the depths emerged not fish, but a creature of myth, a wolf of pure, unadulterated moonlight, its fur shimmering like a thousand tiny stars.

It didn’t bare its teeth; instead, it lowered its magnificent head, its gaze ancient and knowing. Elara felt no fear, only a profound sense of recognition, as if she’d finally found a missing piece of herself. The wolf let out a soft huff, and the air filled with the scent of pine needles and something wild, something free. Then, with a flick of its tail, it dissolved back into the shimmering water, leaving Elara alone with the silent stones and the echoing wonder of what she had just experienced.
