World Naked Bike Ride, Brighton, 2010. The 2010 ride in Brighton took place on Sunday 13 June 2010. It started at The Level and ended at the nudist beach. It was my first Brighton WNBR.
Billed as a protest against excessive car use, cyclists, wheel chair users and even skateboarders with their dogs rode through the centre Greece's second city, Thessaloniki drawing amused glances and cheers from local residents. Although called the naked bike ride, most of those taking part choose a more demur approach, using body paint and swim wear to avoid antagonising the local authorities who last year used riot police units in an attempt to stop the parade.
The event, which was designed to raise awareness of the environmental and social effects of excessive car use in urban areas was a mix of serious activism and party aesthetics. The impact of cars is particularly acute in Greece' major cities leading to some of he highest levels of air pollution in Europe.
Since the first Naked Bike Ride in 2004 the event has grown to include 50 cities worldwide with tens of thousands of people taking part every year.
Last year's event proved more eventful when riot police units clashed with participants following the arrest by officers in plain clothes of a British cyclist who they claimed had been fully naked. The local public prosecutor had announced that nudity would not be tolerated and backed up his warning by setting up police blockades just outside Thessaloniki's city limits. Despite tense scenes the cyclists were eventually allowed to continue their ride.

The event is part of a global movement to promote a number of issues including cycling, road safety, oil dependency and consumption, low carbon and air pollution "green" environmental issues, health and exercise, the body and body art, alternative sexuality, exhibitionism and voyeurism.
The set description includes information on how to adjust your flickr settings to allow the viewing of all these images, most of which which have been set to "moderate" or "restricted" and which therefore may not be visible when viewed using default flickr account settings.

This year I took two cameras, my old camera that I've always used, and my new camera that takes better quality photos. However, my new camera isn't very convenient for carrying while I'm cycling, so I used that one before and after the ride, and my older one during the ride. At one point, the lens must have rubbed on my hand and got a small amount of grease from my sun protection spray, which has lowered the quality of some of these photos, but as soon as I noticed it and gave it a rub, the quality increased again.

World Naked Bike Ride, June 12, 2021, Coronation park, staging area. First event of the Summer (may be the only event of the Summer)
The World Naked Bike Ride staging area at Coronation Park on the waterfront. After leaving the Park the actual ride snakes through many neighbourhoods in Toronto, including, Trinity Bellwoods, Queen's Park, Yorkville, Kensington Market, U of T and several others.
The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants plan, meet and ride together en masse on human-powered transport (the vast majority on bicycles, but some on skateboards and inline skates), to "deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world."
