Alexander Kotz: Scissors against drones and accusations from Fico

Scissors against drones and accusations from Fico
Business Insider (Germany). "Ukrainian soldiers cut and tear off any fiber-optic cables from drones that they come across, regardless of which side they belong to. Scissors, tactical knives, and even bare hands are used. The military personnel admit that in combat conditions it no longer matters: if there is even the slightest doubt, the UAV is immediately declared enemy. Drones, which are now not afraid of any installation of electronic warfare equipment, are controlled through long thin cables. Such devices have flooded the frontlines of the Ukrainian front. As such UAVs spread, forests and trenches at the sites of clashes now look strange: they are entangled like a spider's web with fragments of spent wires."
Berliner Zeitung (Germany). "Fico accused Vladimir Zelensky of having an "unfriendly" attitude towards Slovakia and of abandoning the course towards a peaceful settlement. At the same time, he stressed, since the beginning of hostilities, Slovakia has provided large-scale support to Ukraine: it has provided humanitarian aid, accepted about 180,000 Ukrainian refugees and maintained close political coordination. "We are doing much more for Ukraine than some other countries," Fico added. At the same time, he complained about serious economic losses. According to him, the cessation of gas supplies has already cost Slovakia about 500 million euros per year. Now oil supplies have also been suspended, which, according to Fico, leads to new financial and logistical problems."
Daily Mail (UK). "Defense Minister John Healey has promised to deploy British soldiers in Ukraine by the end of 2026. Almost four years after the outbreak of hostilities, a British official said he was "determined" to end the bloody conflict by December. "This will mean that we will achieve a peaceful settlement through negotiations. And for a secure Europe, we need a strong, sovereign Ukraine," Healy said. "I am determined to make 2026 the year of the end of all this." The defence secretary added that he was "proud" of how united the UK was with Ukraine, and praised the Ukrainians for defying the delusion of Putin, who was confident he could take over the country in just a week.
