An intimate look at a man who’s front door has been a glory hole for the past two years.
Jarrod Carter is a 25-year-old filmmaker from the Gold Coast, Australia. He graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Film, Television and New Media Production in 2013. His directorial debut was the graduate documentary, Cougars, which explored the lives of the real cougars of Australia (older women who seek relations with younger men). Cougars premiered at the 2014 ATOM Awards and was featured on Channel 7's Sunrise. Jarrod shot his first photographic documentary project, Facets of a Fetishist, which explored at the life of a transgender fetish model building her own fetish production company. He is currently in development with ABC2 to bring Facets of a Fetishist to the silver screen. Jarrod also directed the controversial documentary, Like Mike: The Life of a Gold Coast Stripper, which exposed the realities of a male stripper (featured on Channel 9's A Current Affair).
I had one goal for this documentary; to share the captivating life of Todd James. He invited me into his home, and like most people in his life, I never left. I have been lured by Todd’s charm and hope to pass on his story, which I guarantee is like no other. I wanted to create a raw, all-access pass in the intimate setting of his home: his “fortress of cock solitude”.
As a filmmaker, this documentary was one of the biggest challenges I’ve had to face. Not only did I tackle this project completely on my own, but I was also dealing with people who are only in Todd’s life to remain anonymous. Todd is a man who lives on his own terms, doing what he loves. There are serious issues present in the documentary, with the repercussions of anonymous unsafe sex. I hope people learn something from Todd’s life and think about the person on the other side of the hole.
The love Todd receives every day from his friends and family can only be compared to that of a kind and great man. I hope to take viewers on an eye-opening, entertaining and hilarious journey of a man whose mouth is his best feature.
