Wireless outdoor motion detector with anti-masking and pet immunity
The identifier (ID) is the serial number of the device. It is located under the QR code on the body, board, and packaging of the device.
The ID can also be found in the device states in the Ajax app.
The alarm indication can be disabled in the device settings. Available for the following detectors:
With OS Malevich 2.9 update, temporary deactivation of devices without removing them from the system has become available.
Deactivation may be necessary if the device is incorrectly installed or configured, loses connection with the hub, or has failed.
To temporarily deactivate a device, in the Ajax app:
Hood for MotionProtect Outdoor is a cover protecting masking sensors of the detector MotionProtect Outdoor from rain and snow. Install it when the detector cannot be placed under the covering.
Hood for MotionProtect Outdoor can be mounted even on a detector that is already installed. You don’t need to detach the device from the surface for installing the hood.
To install Hood for MotionProtect Outdoor:
Tamper is a miniature button on the device board. It reports an alarm in case of opening the device enclosure, removing the device from the mounting panel, or detaching it from the surface.
The tamper status is displayed in Ajax apps , in the Enclosure section in the states of each device. When the body status is Open , a fault symbol appears on the device icon.
The temperature is measured by sensors inside each detector, which can heat up differently due to the circulation of air currents in the room. The value may differ from the ambient temperature by 2°C.
The temperature displayed in the Rooms tab is the average of these temperatures for each detector assigned to the room.
On some devices, the QR code is located under the SmartBracket mounting panel. To add a detector, remove the mounting panel and scan the QR code.
Also, the QR code is located on the packaging and the device board inside the body.
The maximum distance between the hub and the device can reach 2,000 meters in an open space.
Walls, ceilings, and other structures that interfere with the radio signal to get through can significantly reduce the range. In this case, maximum distance mainly depends on the structures’ material, thickness, and arrangement.
You can expand the coverage area of Ajax security systems with the help of radio signal range extenders
To check that the device is operating correctly, carry out the detection area and signal strength tests.
The detection area tests allow you to determine the distance at which the detector will detect alarms and protect it from false triggering. In test mode, the LED indicator lights up continuously, switching off during the alarm. In order to determine the detection area, use the device’s LED indicator as a guide.
The Jeweller signal strength test allows to determine signal strength and stability in the potential installation place of the device.
Check the Always active mode in the detector settings and disable it if not needed.
When the Always active mode is enabled, the detector is constantly armed and detects movement, activating an alarm. The option is useful, for example, if the facility or specific room needs the 24/7 security.
By default, the hub is set to a hub–detector ping interval of 36 seconds and 30 undeliverable data packets to consider the device lost. With these settings, the hub will detect the loss of the detector in 18 minutes.
To reduce this time, go to the hub settings in the Jeweller section and change the settings. The minimum time for detecting loss of connection with the device is 36 seconds (3 polls of 12 seconds each).
The time before raising the alarm by the communication loss between hub and device is calculated with the following formula:
Detector Ping Interval × Number of missed pings to determine connection failure
Note that with the minimum ping interval, short-term interference can lead to loss of connection with the device. Therefore, set the minimum values only if it is critically important to promptly inform about events in the system.
The loop (zone) number is required to describe all devices connected to the hub when adding a protected facility to the security company monitoring station.
The number is assigned when adding a device to the hub. The first added device has the first loop (zone) number. After removing the device from the system, its number becomes available. This number can be assigned to the next device to be added to the system.
The loop (zone) number is available in the states of each device in the Ajax app:
The firmware version can be found in the device states in the Ajax app.
Delay When Entering/Leaving is the time the user has to disarm the security system after entering/leaving the protected area.
The function can be configured for all security detectors and sirens of the Ajax security system. Also, the delay can be separately configured for Night mode .
When the Always active mode is enabled, the detector is constantly armed and detects movement, activating an alarm.
To enable the Always Active mode, in the Ajax app:
Go to the Device tab , select the device you want to check.

Wireless outdoor bidirectional curtain motion detector

DualCurtain Outdoor controls your property perimeter without creating obstacles for people who are already inside. Two independent optical systems with narrow viewing sectors and flexible settings allow you to accurately adjust 30 meters of the detection zone, excluding possible sources of false alarms. The ELSA (Extended Live Signal Analysis) unique software reacts to intruders, screening out triggers like natural interferences and pets.
Flexible settings of detection zones
Flexible settings of detection zones

On the sides of the detector there are two optical systems with narrow viewing sectors, each equipped with two PIR sensors. Thanks to temperature compensation , detection is always accurate. Sensor signals are analyzed by our new ELSA digital algorithm. Only if two sensors of the same optical system simultaneously capture human motion, the detector activates an alarm.

Near Area Detection mode is a patented technology of Ajax Systems.
Press the switch to expand the protected area

Near Area Detection technology is supported by both DualCurtain Outdoor optical systems

The detection range of the two optical systems is adjusted independently. It allows you to precisely set the perimeter guarded by DualCurtain Outdoor and avoid false alarms caused by a bush swaying in the wind or people passing on a public sidewalk. So that the detector’s field of view is not blocked by a column or downpipe on a facade, the optical systems can be shifted vertically. In the app, you can adjust the sensitivity or deactivate one of the optical systems.
Press the switch to set the motion detection distance

The range is determined within 15 meters for each optical system

The entrance to the building and the windows are under control. The path beside the house is outside the protected area.
Press the switch so that an obstacle does not block the detector's field of view

Sector of view of each optical system shifts 3° horizontally
Press the switch to turn off the detector’s side

Both or only one optical system can be used

DualCurtain Outdoor can not be unnoticeably blinded or disabled even if Ajax is disarmed. Detector’s optical systems are reinforced with advanced masking sensors that respond to obstacles, covering and painting the lenses. The tamper will not allow to unnoticeably remove the device from the mount. And even if the detector is instantly destroyed, it will take the hub less than a minute to detect the loss of communication and inform a central monitoring station and users about the problem.
Due to its low energy consumption, DualCurtain Outdoor operates for years from pre-installed batteries. A monitoring station and users will be warned in advance about the need for the device maintenance.

Calculate device’s operation time at your facility

The process of connecting and configuring DualCurtain Outdoor saves the installation engineer’s time in the best possible way. To add a detector to the system, all you have to do is scan the QR code with the Ajax app, assign a name and a room to it. Configure the device in the app in real time while testing detection zones and communication. If necessary, the detector can be disabled or its system parameters can be reconfigured remotely, without site visits.

User guide
Tell us what you need to protect and we will put together a set of detectors and devices for your premises.

The PIR sensors’ signal waveforms must correspond to the way an intruder crosses the protected area. In any direction: perpendicular or along the direction of the detection area. At the same stage, a correction for the signal intensity is made, in order to take into account the distance from the sensors and the dimensions of the object.

The signal amplitudes are verified against the pattern database. To create it, we analyzed thousands of curtain detector triggerings on people, animals, lights, and other natural interferences in various weather conditions. The signals must match the patterns that are typical for humans.
