30,000 Children Return to School with AidSpring’s

Back-to-School Campaign 2025

TALLINN, ESTONIA — September 2025

A New School Year, A New Beginning

For 30,000 children across the Middle East, September 2025 marked not just the start of a new school year—it marked a return to hope. AidSpring Foundation’s annual Back-to-School campaign distributed specially designed backpacks filled with school supplies to children in five countries, ensuring that financial hardship would not be a barrier to education.

Each backpack contains notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, a water bottle, and age-appropriate learning materials. For older students, the kits also include scientific calculators, geometry sets, and reference books. The backpacks themselves are durable and brightly colored, designed to withstand daily use while bringing a smile to their young owners.

The campaign targets children from families displaced by conflict, those living in extreme poverty, and orphans who lack the financial support needed to attend school. Priority is given to girls, who are disproportionately affected by educational disruption in conflict zones.

Schools Rebuilt and Renovated

Beyond supplies, AidSpring has invested significantly in school infrastructure. During 2025, the foundation completed the renovation of 12 schools across Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, restoring damaged classrooms, replacing broken furniture, installing new blackboards and lighting, and ensuring that sanitation facilities are functional and accessible.

In areas where existing schools are overcrowded or nonexistent, AidSpring has established temporary learning centers—prefabricated structures that can be assembled quickly and equipped with everything needed for quality education. These centers serve as bridges, providing immediate educational access while longer-term school construction projects are underway.

Each school renovation and construction project is carried out in close collaboration with local education authorities, ensuring that the facilities meet national curriculum standards and that local communities take ownership of their maintenance and operation.

Teacher Training and Support

Quality education requires not just facilities and supplies, but also well-trained and motivated teachers. AidSpring’s education programs include comprehensive teacher training initiatives, providing professional development workshops, teaching materials, and ongoing mentorship to educators working in conflict-affected communities.

Training topics include trauma-informed teaching practices, inclusive education for children with disabilities, creative and interactive teaching methods, and classroom management techniques for large and diverse student groups. Teachers also receive training in psychosocial support, enabling them to identify and respond to signs of distress in their students.

In 2025, AidSpring trained over 500 teachers across its program countries. These educators serve as multipliers of the foundation’s impact, reaching thousands of students with improved teaching quality and emotional support.

“When a child puts on a new backpack and walks through the school gate, you can see the transformation in their eyes. Education is not just about reading and writing—it is about restoring dignity and hope.”

— AidSpring Education Program Manager

Scholarship and Sponsorship Programs

For older students and those with exceptional academic potential, AidSpring offers scholarship and sponsorship programs that cover tuition fees, transportation costs, exam fees, and additional learning materials. These programs are designed to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent talented young people from pursuing secondary and higher education.

To date, AidSpring has provided scholarships to over 2,000 students, many of whom have gone on to complete secondary school, enroll in vocational training, or gain admission to universities. The foundation tracks the progress of its scholarship recipients and provides ongoing academic and emotional support throughout their educational journey.
