The Ohio Safari Park. There’s nothing else like it!

Avalanche is the largest male "white" bison at the Park! 9 Years old and over 6 feet "tall", he's over 2,000 lbs of all-American buffalo. He enjoys long rolls in the dirt and hanging out with his herd in the Drive-Thru Safari!

Drive your own car through and get in touch with your WILD side with hundreds of exotic animals! Have you ever fed a Bison? Been nose-to-nose with a Giraffe? If not, you will in our Drive-Thru Safari! From Alpaca to Zebra, you’ll see it all at THE Ohio Safari Park!
Drive Thru Safari : OPEN daily 10 AM to 5 PM, last car admitted at 4 PM
Aviary Adventure: OPEN 11 AM – 4 PM
Camel Rides: OPEN 11 AM – 2 PM, 3 PM – 4 PM
Zoo-it-All Encounter: OPEN 11 AM – 4 PM
Friday–Sunday only. Porcupine feedings offered at 12:30 and 2:30.
EdZOOcational Program: 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM
HogWILD Experience: 12 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM

Take a stroll on the WILD side and visit more exotic animals in our Walk-Thru Safari! Your Admission includes our EdZOOcation Vacation programs, the HogWILD experience, and our Aviary Adventure! There’s so much more to see and do in the Walk-Thru—and don’t forget to go for a ride on a camel!

At African Safari, we believe in a brighter future for wildlife. By visiting the Park, you’re helping to protect animals in our backyard and around the world.
“Avalanche” is the largest bison at African Safari, the herd sire, and he’s pretty special… He’s a rare “ white ” bison!
Avalanche joined the African Safari animal family in 2014 when he was was just 2 years old, he hadn’t even grown into his horns yet! Since then, he has grown into his hooves, and become the “big man on campus”. Avalanche fathers the majority of the bison calves (more than 50%) born at the Park each Season, which is called being a herd sire.
In the Drive-Thru Safari, you can see (and feed!) Avalanche in the Sections with Fallow Deer and Elk. He is always on the hunt for carrots (his ultimate favorite) and not afraid to walk right up to your car – you might even get a special souvenir to remember him by, a big snotty nose kiss on your window!
Avalanche got his name from being “white” (like snow), and 2,000 lbs of pure muscle! Once he gets moving, he’s hard to stop!
