African Development Bank: PM Receives Country Manager

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Joseph Dion Ngute now better knows the level of cooperation between Cameroon and the African Development Bank Group following discussions with the bank’s officials on Friday, February 15, 2019

The bank’s Country Manager for Cameroon, Solomane Koné accompanied by the Division Head for Energy and Transport, Joseph N’Guessan Kouassi paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister, the first after the appointment of Joseph Dion Ngute as head of government.

After the discussions, Solomane Koné told the press that they used the occasion of the courtesy visit to brief the Prime Minister on the bank group’s cooperation in Cameroon. He disclosed that, “We have a total financing of our portfolio amounting to more than a thousand billion FCFA centred around 24 operations. The bulk of the portfolio is on energy and transport sectors.”

Their discussions, he said mainly focused on the energy and transport sectors, “because we recently approved three major operations in Cameroon; one is on the Bamenda Ring Road, the second is the Electricity Interconnection Project between Chad and Cameroon and third one is the Railway between Cameroon and Chad,” he disclosed.

Concerning the projects, he said, “It is a study that will lead to major investments to link these two countries which we expect will boost economic activities and improve on the lives of the people along that region.”
