Recently a woman named Yasmeena Ali made waves for being Afghanistan’s only pornstar and opening up about her life during the Taliban regime.
Now, many people speculate who the only Afghan porn star is and how did she choose such a field living under Taliban rule.
Born Khadija Patman, which is a Taliban-controlled area of Kabul on 1 December 1993, Yasmeena Ali claims to be the only porn star from Afghanistan.

Ali in an exclusive interview said, “I was born in a country where the atmosphere was very brutal at that time. I think I am the only girl from Afghanistan who came into this industry.”
Yasmeena Ali said that after the Taliban took over in 1990, she fled the oppressed Afghan environment and took refuge in the West and that she did not have the opportunity to get an education because education was forbidden for women in Afghanistan at that time.” She said she noticed a huge difference in the rights of men and women.
According to Yasmeena Ali, the Taliban know everything about her and continue to obtain information from her website. She claimed that the Taliban despise her because they do not want Afghanistan to be regarded as a pornographic hotspot.
Yasmeena Ali’s parents raised her as a strict Muslim, but she converted to Judaism at the age of 19 after being kicked out of the family home for dating a Jewish boy.
Ali launched her career when she met pornographic director David Cohen, whom she later married. “When I was 9 years old living in the United Kingdom, I went to school and was given sex education there,” Yasmeena Ali said.
“It was only after having sex for the first time in my life that I became addicted to sex and I gradually became attracted to the pornographic film industry and still films for many porn companies,” she claimed.
Yasmeena is now also better known as an activist in the UK and advocates for women’s rights and “condemns liberal activists who turn a blind eye to the violation of these rights by Islam”.

When you’re from a conservative country, there are always certain expectations placed on you. You are required to behave a certain way and to uphold certain standards. Unfortunately, breaking those expectations can have disastrous results.
Yasmeena Ali grew up as a young girl in Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban. However, once she moved to the US, Yasmeena found freedom for herself. She started a career as a porn star! Recently, the Afghan woman shared why she decided to head into the industry, despite it resulting in her father supposedly attempting to murder her.
The 28-year-old never thought she would one day have freedom in both sex and education. After all, those were pipe dreams when she was living under the Taliban in 1990s. Yasmeena’s time in Afghanistan then had only been filled with violent acts as authorities punished those who weren’t “religious” or “dressed inappropriately”. Unfortunately, those around her viewed this as the norm.
Thankfully, Yasmeena’s father had connections as he previously offered translation services to the British during their time in the Middle East. They eventually left the country for asylum in the UK when Yasmeena was nine. Life there brought a lot of changes for Yasmeena. In a more relaxed environment, Yasmeena was free to learn whatever she wished and she took advantage of it. However, her education didn’t stop with general knowledge. Yasmeena too started her sex education.
Unfortunately, her family’s strict Muslim lifestyle soon caused conflict between her and them. The final straw was when they asked her to enter an arranged marriage. As she felt her family was still attempting to police her life, Yasmeena cut ties with them and left home permanently. She ended up marrying a Jewish photographer and renounced her religion to be an atheist. Her drastic change in life also led to her starting her career as an adult actress.
Yasmeena felt a certain sense of freedom in being able to embrace her sexual side. “ Porn helped me to release and be myself and it made me feel confident and in control, ” Yasmeena reportedly stated. “ Before I never had control. That’s what I mean by liberating. ” The 28-year-old soon became famous for her adult films and makes money via OnlyFans. However, in addition to being her bread and butter, being a porn star also brought danger.
Yasmeena’s new life with her Jewish husband and career as a porn star angered her family, especially her father Mohammed Patman and cousin Darya Khan Safi. They allegedly felt she had “disgraced the family” with her actions. In an attempt to protect their dignity, they supposedly concocted a plot to murder her. Yasmeena’s father supposedly started searching for Yasmeena in Slovakia while a hitman would kill her for $70,000. The duo were later arrested in 2020.
Yasmeena has expected their reactions and staunchly stuck to her beliefs. “ At the end of the day, it is my life and I don’t care about people’s reactions to my career, ” she said. “ I follow my heart and do whatever I want because it is my life, my body and right. ” She also called out the Taliban during a podcast. She stated she believed they were hypocrites and “secret porn lovers”. “ Sexually repressed societies are kind of obsessed,” she said. Yasmeena felt they didn’t want Afghanistan to be known for porn. “ They think they own my body and what I can do with my body and I have no right to show it, ” she told the podcast.
To date, Yasmeena is not only Afghanistan’s top porn star, she is supposedly their only porn star. The 28-year-old embraces her career and claims her actions on camera aren’t just for her viewers, they are also for her. She hopes her work will continue sparking dialogue among people and views it as “a stand against discrimination”.
