Affiliates talks: Vitaliy Gavrilov “TriTe”
The guest of our today’s interview is Vitaliy Gavrilov, the owner of the “TriTe” affiliate team. These guys drive traffic to nutra and white offers from TikTok, keeping their ROI at 100-150%. Vitaliy has gone in detail about all the aspects of working with this traffic source and answered a bunch of our questions. If you’ve been tired of Facebook and been thinking about TikTok for quite a while, then this interview is a must-read for you.
Hello Vitaliy! You’ve already given several interviews but you still haven’t fully talked about yourself. Hence the question, how did you start in affiliate marketing and what have you achieved so far?
Hello! I used to directly sell custom kitchens for 8 years before affiliate marketing. I found out about this niche 4 years ago when I searched how to make money online on the internet, I was living in Novosibirsk back then. After, I moved to Moscow, tried to open a custom furniture store for the last time ever, and decided to move over to affiliate marketing. In June 2019, I launched my first ad campaign on Facebook. Unfortunately, that wasn’t a success: I drove a lot of leads, very few of which got approved, then I got my first ban. Then I launched one campaign after another, was trying to gain more experience, was constantly getting banned, wasting my savings into negative numbers, taking out loans. As a result, by December 2019, I owed almost 1 million rubles. That was when my spouse and partner Alyona found out about TikTok, a new network, and after 4 days of actively using it, she saw the first affiliate ad there, I don’t remember which offer that was. That very night I started searching for TikTok ad accounts. The internet had zero information about it, so I had to solve the problem my own way and emailed all the ad agencies that I could find that were offering TikTok advertising services. With one of those agencies, I agreed that, aside from standard campaign running services, they’re also going to lease me one ad account. We earned our first significant income by the end of December, that was about 70k rubles. We made 480k of pure profit in January. In February, I hired our first employee. Then, Alyona continued working and developing our TriTe team.
Please tell us, are you currently hiring new people? If yes, then what positions are open and what terms can you offer?
Yes, we’re always looking for buyers-creators. People work on commission that goes up to 40% by the time they achieve a certain result that we’ve agreed on. We provide weekly salaries.
The majority of affiliate teams mainly work with Facebook, have you had other attempts to conquer this traffic source?
After I didn’t have any profit with Facebook and succeeded on TikTok, I tried to start over on Facebook 3 more times, all unsuccessful. Unfortunately or fortunately, TikTok brings us a stable income.
Do you work with any other traffic sources? Google maybe, or ad networks, targeted ads on other social media?
We tried using other popular traffic sources but TikTok was the ultimate choice, it’s the most profitable.
Thorough moderation scares a lot of people when it comes to TikTok as a traffic source. How do you launch adult-themed (and other restricted topics) creatives and promo materials regularly there? Please share your algorithm.
Moderation on TikTok isn’t only manual these days. At first, ad campaigns are simply filtered by TikTok, and then, when that ad gets a certain number of views or gets reported by other users enough times, it gets moderated by a real human (and this is my personal opinion based on my experience, no one really knows how the auction works). We haven’t yet found an approach for adult offers here, but nutra does drive nice traffic very well.
Accounts are the key factor when working with Facebook and if a publisher has plenty of quality accounts, those practically provide 70% of their success. And how about TikTok accounts? Are these also as important as on Facebook? Or is there anything else that stands as a key to success on TikTok?
When working with TikTok, the key factor is a UNIQUE creative, not a uniqualized, but a unique one, that hasn’t yet participated in the auction. TikTok business center accounts are a bit less important, our team cannot drive traffic using the accounts we’ve signed up ourselves.
Tell us, which payout model is the most profitable, CPA or CPL? Perhaps, you’ve even tried SS, which one is the best now and what deserves more attention?
We only work under CPA; SS offers aren’t at all worth it.
When TikTok was only making their way to the top, many people believed that the main audience there are kids and kids obviously aren’t capable of paying, they can’t purchase anything, and so how true is this belief? Tell us, what audiences are there on TikTok (age, sex, GEO)?
This is a misbelief, the main TikTok audience is 25-34 years old from the US, Indonesia, Russia, Europe, and Asia. You can find a comprehensive list of all GEOs in a business center account.
What verticals do your work with on TikTok? And also, what verticals do you think won’t thrive on TikTok?
White offers and nutra work very nice. As for now, to me, all the verticals that require long order forms cannot succeed on TikTok at this point.
These days, an ROI rate of 100% is considered to be good on Facebook. TikTok is a rather new traffic source compared to Facebook, so what ROIs can it show for the nutra vertical? And is it at all possible to sustain high ROIs throughout a campaign?
The maximum nutra ROI on TikTok can go up to 400-500% in the beginning of a campaign. My team is capable of maintaining a 100-150% ROI rate during a campaign.
Have you ever tried to run ads through TikTok bloggers? If so, then, please, share your experience.
We haven’t yet, but we are planning on launching ads with bloggers to find out how efficient that can be.
Please tell us, are you planning on teaching TikTok affiliate marketing, directly from your experience? Maybe that could be just as a collaboration between you and some affiliate network? Or, perhaps, you’d like to create your educational platform like IM GROUP?
I do provide personal training ever since my first collaboration with one of the CPA networks, and I’m not planning on teaching bigger audiences, this takes a lot of time and effort.
Facebook has a special category of publishers that only run their campaigns until their first payout – frauds. Does TikTok provide a feature of this kind? How badly would this affect TikTok’s advertising market? Will they make their advertising terms more server like Facebook does?
These frauds were removed from TikTok in February 2021 when payouts almost fully stopped working through postpayment accounts.
What programs are required when working with TikTok? And which ones do you use?
Our team only needs 3 services: a video editor, the Arbalet service, and an anti-detect browser (so that we can assign the roles more conveniently).
Please give some advice to those that have read the whole article.
