Affiliate Soft Skills: Multitasking
Aff1.com SupportPublisher’s professional skills are priceless, so we constantly share our experience, tips, and Aff1 tools. However, hard skills are necessary, but not sufficient skills. To become a real pro, you need to be ahead of the crowd and know more than others. So we dedicated a new series of articles to soft skills. Today, we are talking about multitasking.
Each of us would like to focus on one thing and get maximum results from it. But in reality, this is impossible. Publishers work with multiple offers or even multiple sources. Therefore, multitasking is everything to us.
Please note that several tasks should not be performed simultaneously, but alternately. And switching between them also wastes time and energy.
Why control multiple tasks?
The specifics of working as an affiliate marketer require several skills:
- ability to cope with different tasks,
- switch focus from one direction to another,
- prioritize,
- manage time and get everything done.
We work in conjunction with colleagues. Managers, designers, call center, social media support…. Offers, creatives, tests, payments, tickets...
Without multitasking, you simply won't be able to complete all your tasks and won't get your job done.
The good news is that multitasking can be trained.
How to improve your multitasking
If you plan your time and effort correctly, you can achieve good results and train flexible thinking. Here are some tips on how to organize a comfortable work environment:
- Set your priorities. Sometimes there is a temptation to do an easy, but not urgent task, and then take on that difficult and “urgent” one. Don't do this. You can’t test links without a creative done, and especially before choosing an offer, right?
- Plan and note. Think about what tasks you face first and how much you can realistically accomplish today. There is no point in writing a long list of tasks that you cannot complete in one day.
- If there are two large tasks that need to be done in parallel, then break each into stages, sub-items and complete them in turn.
- Set aside working time for communication with managers, support, and parsing mail. It would seem that a response to a message would be a matter of minutes, but now you’ve been discussing the next ticket with the manager for half an hour.
- Remove distractions. If you want to focus on business, minimize the influence of those things that can distract your attention. Avoid things that waste time: scrolling the news feed, looking at your mailbox, waiting for messages.
And our personal advice for staying focused. Music is a shield from the outside world; it drowns out extraneous sounds that interfere with work. You'll need headphones!
It will also be useful for you to develop analytical thinking, which we discussed in detail in a special article.
Instead of conclusions
Multitasking is necessary for a media buyer who wants to make good money. Affiliate marketing covers many different processes, each of which is important in its own way. Even if you don't consider multitasking a natural trait, it can be developed with practice.
Rational multitasking is a work mode that is comfortable for you, in which maximum productivity is achieved.
