If you’re into pre-release software and want to try out every app before it hits the market in stable form, then it’s worth knowing that Adobe has just rolled out a new version of Flash Player , which comes with bug fixes and performance improvements on all supported platforms.
At the same time, Adobe has also rolled out a new stable version that’s specifically supposed to address recent security glitches found in Flash Player , so make sure you get this one to stay protected.
First and foremost, Adobe Flash Player 18.0.0.205 beta comes with the same features as its predecessor, including fixes and improvements aimed at Microsoft’s new Edge browser, but at the same time, it also adds a new series of optimizations for Windows workstations.
This new version also adopts Adobe’s new mechanism that allows users to install Flash Player without actually restarting their browsers, but the parent company says that some improvements in this regard are still needed because, in some scenarios, a reboot might still be required.
The new stable version of Adobe’s Flash Player is 18.0.0.203, and although no change log has been provided, it’s believed that the parent company has tried to fix security vulnerabilities that have been spotted in the last couple of weeks (Adobe usually does that on the second Tuesday of each month, but this time, the company might have hurried up for users’ benefit).
Recently, it has emerged that computers infected with Kovter click-fraud malware received new Flash Player software in order to block other infections from reaching these PCs. Basically, the malware writers were patching computers after having previously infected them, thus trying to make sure that no other malicious file that could compromise the system or even block their own malware was deployed.
Adobe hasn’t yet detailed the new release, but all users are strongly recommended to download and install it to fix any security vulnerability that might exist.

My Trusteer Rapport keeps telling me I need to update Adobe Flash Player. I have vs. 17.0.0.169 (debugger) and the latest version is 18.0.0.203. Also, I can't install these plug-ins: NPAPI or PPAPI. I'm currently using IE-11 but it continues to "Stop
working". Then I switch to Chrome. Can anyone explain any of these problems?
Roll up your sleeves, cross your fingers & try the following multi-step fix I've cooked up just for your computer...
[You will want to print these instructions for offline reference. IMPORTANT => DON'T SKIP ANY STEP & perform all Steps in one, uninterrupted session! If a Step says to reboot,
reboot! ]
1. Right-click on the following link, select SAVE TARGET AS... & download the Norton Removal Tool, saving it to your desktop:

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe
2. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with an icon on the taskbar).
3. Uninstall Norton Security Suite and then (Norton)
LiveUpdate (if listed) as well as any Norton Add-ons via
Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program . Reboot when prompted to do so.
4. IMPORTANT! => Make certain that Windows Defender & Windows Firewall are enabled
immediately after rebooting! [Should happen automatically but I want you to double-check.]
NB: You're "working without a net" now: Don't to ANYTHING else online (e.g., browsing; reading email; chatting) until you've completed Step #7 below!
5. Right-click on the file you saved in Step #1a above and select Run as Administrator
to run the Norton utility. Don't TOUCH your keyboard until the run completes, then reboot.
6. OPTION A : Do a clean install of Comcast's
Norton Security Suite ; follow all prompts.
NOTE: Do not enable or install any Norton Add-ons or toolbars (e.g., Norton Anti-Phishing) just yet.
OPTION B: Leave Windows Defender and the
Windows Firewall enabled instead.
7. If you installed the Comcast/Norton freebie again in #6 above, run (Norton)
LiveUpdate manually & repeatedly until you get a "no more updates" or similar prompt. If you opted to enable Windows Defender, you may skip this one (1) step
only!
8a. Right-click on the following link & save the download to your desktop:
ie8-rereg.all.zip [1]
8b. Right-click on the file you saved in #8a & select EXTRACT ALL. This will create a new desktop folder also named
ie8-rereg.all . The folder will contain both of the scripts below (plus a third one that you will NOT use).
Note => Don't worry, the scripts are good for IE10 & IE11, too!
9a. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with an icon on the taskbar), open the folder created in Step #8b above & double-click on the file named
ie8-rereg.32on64.cmd to run the script.
9b. Repeat for the file named ie8-rereg.64on64.cmd then reboot.
10. Re-assert Internet Explorer as the default Browser in the CUSTOM ( <=important! ) section of

Set Program Access and Computer Defaults . [1]
11a. Right-click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop:
http://www.slipstick.com/doit/chromehtml.reg [2]
11b. Double-click on the file you saved in #11a above & accept the prompt to MERGE the data with the Registry.
Note => For optimal results, check the Delete personal settings
option.
12. Reset Windows Update components per this page =>
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 [3]
13. Reboot and run a manual check for updates: See if any/all updates offered (e.g., KB3079777...) will successfully install now; follow all prompts.
 • HOW TO Run a manual check for updates

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3067639
14. Open Internet Explorer (not Chrome!) to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and (hopefully) confirm that Flash Player v18.0.0.209 is now
installed.
15. Reply to this post with a status report.
=====================================================
[1] After we've finished this thread, feel free to reassert Chrome as your default if you wish.
[3] Full Disclosure: Resetting Windows Update components will delete your
Update History but not the list of Installed Updates .
