Actor Shia LaBeouf was released from custody Tuesday (Feb. 17) following a Mardi Gras arrest in New Orleans on battery charges.
Court records show the “Transformers” and “Holes” film star was released on his own recognizance by Criminal District Court Judge Simone Levine prior to his scheduled first appearance in Orleans Parish Magistrate Court.
Investigators said a man identified as 39-year-old LaBeouf was causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a Royal Street business.
A staff member attempted to remove LaBeouf from the establishment. Once outside, one victim reported that LaBeouf struck him several times with his closed fists.
The victims told police that LaBeouf left but later returned, acting more aggressively. Multiple people attempted to restrain him and eventually released him in hopes that he would leave, but he again struck the same victim in the upper body with his fists, investigators said.
